CAROL OF THE BELLS!

Luke 1:30-33 – Devotional

Luke 1:30-33

The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and shall name him ‘Jesus.’ He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.

GROWING A CROP OF JOY! – Psalm 126:5 Devotional

GROWING A CROP OF JOY!

Psalm 126:5 – Devotional

Psalm 126:5

Sowing in tears will produce a harvest of joy.

What we sow will determine what will be produced. Bitterness grows from seeds of selfish ambition and hopelessness is the fruit of sensual living. It is vital for us to examine what seeds we are sowing and what crop awaits us!

Across over sixty years of ministry I have sadly listened to the cries of those who planted seeds of sensuality and now are reaping the crop of doom and despair.

The bright light at the end of the tunnel for those who have sinned and fallen short of God’s will for them is that God is always ready to welcome home His prodigal children who have found themselves in the mire of sin and despair.

I am so glad that Jesus came to rescue fallen sinners, not sanctimonious and self righteous saints. Only repentant sinners are welcome home by a waiting Father. If you have been planting seeds of sin and shame stop it! Reach into your seed bag of seeds and plant a crop of sorrow for your sins and you will reap a crop of joy!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S IMPOSSIBLE GIFT! – Isaiah 7:14 Devotional

GOD’S IMPOSSIBLE GIFT!

Isaiah 7:14 – Devotional

Isaiah 7:14

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

The impossible gift that God revealed to the prophet, Isaiah, was fulfilled many years later. What Isaiah could not see with his physical eyes, he viewed through the eyes of faith and His complete trust in the God he served.

Many times we find ourselves facing the obstacles of life and wonder how we can ever survive the on-slot of the enemy. It is during these times of pressure we need the guidance of Scripture.

One of the most precious gifts we have been given is the Word of God. Sadly in many lives it is a book that lies on a table and draws dust from lack of use. How sad that the source of victory over sin and death lies untouched!

God’s impossible gift to us is our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He is foretold in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament. As we approach the day we celebrate His birth, let us thank God for His precious Impossible Gift!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

REST IN THE LORD! – Psalm 4:8 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

REST IN THE LORD!

Psalm 4:8 – Devotional

Psalm 4:8

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep: For only You O Lord, cause me to dwell in safety.

Rest that restores does not come necessarily from the time spent under the covers of our bed. I am sure that most of us have spent sleepless nights tossing and turning as we struggled with thoughts of what we would face at dawn. It is also not enough to finally fall asleep and not wake until dawn lights the eastern sky.

Divine rest comes by yielding our will to His Divine will and leaving the results in His Mighty Hands! “I can’t, He can! That’s all I need to know. Let’s Go!”

I am certain that the Lord is never pleased by lazy and lethargic believers, but He is equally not pleased with doing things their own way and then asking Him to place His blessing upon it. Beep! That is not the way it works!

God calls us to be faithful in seeking His plan and purpose for what lies in our path. His Divine wisdom uses the circumstances of our life to shape and mold us to be used by Him and at the same time rest in the knowledge that we have done His will for living in obedience for Him.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GREET ONE ANOTHER WITH JOY! – Romans 8:16 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GREET ONE ANOTHER WITH JOY!

Romans 8:16 – Devotional

Romans 8:16

Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you.

During the dark days of disease and pandemic, social distancing has created a sense of isolation and hopelessness. I think this delights Satan and gives him a way to separate us from those who would give us hope in the Lord.

Thank God we live in a time when we can contact each other easily by telephone, e-mail, and numerous gidgets, gadgets, and gizmos. When all else fails we get up off our do nothing and meet in person.

I am thrilled to open my home each week to our small home church. But that is not enough. All throughout the week there is contact between members by means of the devices I have just mentioned.

The device we may use to touch the life of those around us is not the important thing. It is the joy of Jesus that bubbles up within us and gives us the reality that as part of the family of God, we have deep and abiding joy that satisfies the deepest longing within our heart. I want to encourage each of us (me included), to greet one another with joy as often as possible!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
