ENTER WITH VICTORY!

Psalm 100:4-5 – Devotional

Psalm 100:4-5

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.

World War II ended when I was eleven years old. I can recall the absolute joy in the celebrations that erupted with the news that the war had ended. People that were too old, or like me, too young to participate in the war, still celebrated as if we had been on the front lines of the battle.

It was several years later that I was blessed to meet three Japanese students who were attending college in Nampa, Idaho. These beautiful Christian students had a glow and joy that transcended the horrors of war; they taught us that God is able to end the battles in this world and prepare us for the joy that awaits us in heaven.

It is fascinating to observe the difference in people who have gone through times of trial. Some have developed a bitter and resentful spirit. To me it signifies that they are still fighting the battles that overwhelmed them in the first place.

Then there are the real examples of victorious saints. Rather than being overcome by the trials and tribulations of life, they have allowed the Holy Spirit to empower them. They enter the presence of the Lord as true victors. They are thankful about trials that others see as defeats. They rejoice that the Lord is beside them and become an example to all of us. I hope you are part of this crowd of witnesses!

FEARLESS! – Psalm 27:1 Devotional

FEARLESS!

Psalm 27:1 – Devotional

Psalm 27:1

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Asking for divine help is not necessarily during the times of emergency or threats. We can come to the end of our endurance in a number of ways. We can become physically exhausted, mentally fatigued or even spiritually depleted. Regardless of our condition we can always trust the Lord to be there for us. Praise the Lord!

We are told that David was a man after God’s own heart. That certainly does not mean that David always did what was right. He was as much a sinner as each and every human born into the world. But I am so thankful that David confessed his sin and continued to walk with the Lord.

God never calls us to be perfect! If that was the case I certainly would fall short of that goal. (Don’t become too smug. God knows your heart as well!). God does call us to reach out to Him and allow Him to be our light and salvation.

In what or in whom are you relying for your eternal destiny? If you trust in the so-called wisdom of men you will face terrible disappointment. Only the Lord Jesus Christ offers us confidence that we can face eternity – – FEARLESS! My hope is built on nothing less than Christ and His righteousness!

UNDER HIS WINGS! – Psalm 17:8 Devotional

UNDER HIS WINGS!

Psalm 17:8 – Devotional

Psalm 17:8

“Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I once read about a forest service worker who was walking through an area that had just been ravaged by a forest fire. He saw a strange mound and stopped to check it out. To his astonishment it was a mother bird that had been killed by the fire. As he knelt to examine the bird, he heard a peep from under the pile of ashes. When he turned the bird over he found several chicks.

Instead of flying to save herself, the mother had sacrificed herself in order to protect her brood from the fire that was sweeping toward them. That is what Jesus has done for us. He wants to shelter us under His wings from the firestorm of life.

In 1896, William Cushing wrote the words and Ira Sankey composed the music to the hymn, Under His Wings. Enjoy this featured hymn from GloryScapes.

Under His Wings

1. Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.

Refrain: Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.

2. Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

Refrain: Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.

3. Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life’s trials are over;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
Resting in Jesus, I am safe evermore.

Refrain: Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.

FOLLOW THE LEADER! – Psalm 31:3 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

FOLLOW THE LEADER!

Psalm 31:3 – Devotional

Psalm 31:3

“For Thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for Thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.

I can recall times when I was told to follow the leader. One of these times was high in the mountains when our Boy Scout troop was crossing a steep rock slide and in order to keep from starting a rock slide that would have cost us our life, we had to place our feet precisely where our leader had placed his.

That is also true in following in the steps of our Savior and Lord. There are many temptations for us to get off the path that the Lord has prepared for us. The enemy of our soul uses every tempting devise in his arsenal to persuade us to follow him.

We always need to remember that the wages of sin is death. We can face the death of dreams and the death of being a faithful witness for the Lord. How sad to witness people follow the wrong leader and end in bitter failure.

Our Great Guide and Leader, Jesus Christ came into this sin sick world to provide a way through the wilderness of sin. It may seem to be hard at times to follow close behind Him, but remember He has been this way before and no matter what dangers surround us He will never fail. We only have to follow the Leader!

Blessings dear hearts walk with God today and be a blessing!
