A NEW HOME!

2 Corinthians 5:6 – Devotional

2 Corinthians 5:6

“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that,
while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord.”

In January 2010, my brother, Harold Thompson was in a Boise, Idaho, hospital. He had seemingly progressed sufficiently that his doctor decided he could be moved from the hospital to an assisted living facility.

Harold was eagerly looking forward to the move and during the night before his scheduled move, he told his nurse he was going to a new home in just a few hours. How very appropriate that was!

A short time later she went back to his room to give him some medication and discovered he had already gone to his new home, one that the Lord had prepared for him and one that will never pass away!

As I conducted my brother’s funeral service, I could almost picture him at rest in that wonderful new home that will never fade or pass away. What wonderful assurance that gives those of us who have been born again! A NEW HOME!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SACRIFICE!

Romans 12:1-2 – Devotional

Romans 12:1-2

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–which is your spiritual worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING! – Music Devotional

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING!

Music Devotional

Psalm 145:10-11

“All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, and Your saints shall bless You.
They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, and talk of Your power.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The older I get (and I am getting up there), the more disturbed I am about senseless killing. This is not only true of attacks on other people, but also on the killing animals just for the sport of it. In my hunting days I did shoot game, but it was for food not for sport. Now, however, there are many that hunt only for bragging rights, not for food. God meant for us to be keepers and protectors, not killers.

In 1225, when he was feeling ill and losing his sight, Francis of Assisi wrote about what was always on his heart: the praise of God. In All Creatures of Our God and King, his love for God and the world He made comes out very strongly.

Probably because he lived such a simple life, he noticed things that we, in our busy lives, tend to overlook. Francis believed that all earth’s creatures get their life from God and that we all depend on Him for our continual existence.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING!

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O, praise Him, Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him, O praise Him,

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
Ye clouds that sail in heav’n along,
O, praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice!
O, praise Him, O praise Him,

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Let all things their creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
O, praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, the Father, praise the Son,
And praise the Spirit, Three in One!
O, praise Him, O, praise Him

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

And all ye men of tender heart,
Forgiving others, take your part,
O, praise Him! Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
Praise God and on Him cast your care!
O, praise Him, O, praise Him

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

A STORY OF TWO SONS! – Luke 15:30 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

A STORY OF TWO SONS!

Luke 15:30 – Devotional

Luke 15:30

“As soon as this son of yours came,
who has devoured your livelihood with harlots,
you killed the fatted calf for him.”

I once encountered a brother and sister that had been hostile toward each other for years. Even their children had deep hostility toward their cousins because of their parent’s anger toward each other. Prior to the funeral of their mother I met with the families and with God’s help and scripture we restored their relationship.

It is interesting that when the younger brother had received his inheritance, his older brother received his as well. While the younger brother departed for a far country, it appears the elder brother departed for a far field, one of envy and resentment.

He had no idea what his younger brother was doing, yet he accused him of spending his money on harlots. Sometimes our false accusations reveal what our own temptations are. This older brother who had also received his inheritance evidently did not enjoy it.

His refusal to join the feast reveals the condition of his heart. While his brother had been willing to become a servant, this older brother rejected his father’s plea to come home. Which sibling describes you? The one who returned or the one who resented?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
