THANKFUL IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES! – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Devotional

THANKFUL IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Devotional

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This Friday we have a special treat for you. Russ Hansen has combined AI and Scripture to produce an original song entitled, “Thankful in All Circumstances!” based on 1 Thessalonians which is especially timely with Thanksgiving. Russ would appreciate your feedback at inspiration@thegoodbookcompany.com.

Thankful in All Circumstances
(inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)

Verse 1
When the morning light is rising
Or the night feels cold and tough,
When the road is bright with blessings
Or the path is long and rough—
There’s a whisper from the Savior,
Soft but steady as it rings:
“Be thankful in all circumstances,
I am working in all things.”

Chorus
I will praise You in the sunshine,
I will praise You in the rain.
I will thank You in my laughter,
I will thank You in my pain.
For this is Your will and purpose
For the ones You have redeemed—
To be thankful in all circumstances,
Trusting in Your care.

Verse 2
When Your answer seems so quick,
Or I’m sifting through the sand,
When the valley seems unending
Yet You guide me by the hand—
Hope is like a desert oasis,
Faith is learning how to sing:
“Be thankful in all circumstances,
For I’m held by Christ my King.”

Chorus
I will praise You in the sunshine,
I will praise You in the rain.
I will thank You in my laughter,
I will thank You in my pain.
For this is Your will and purpose
For the ones You have redeemed—
To be thankful in all circumstances,
Trusting in Your care.

Bridge
In the heartbreak, in the waiting,
In the joy that grace will bring—
You are faithful, You are present,
Lord, You’re the thread in everything.
So I’ll lift my hands in worship
Through the sorrow and the spring—
Be it storm or be it stillness,
I’ll be thankful as I sing.

Final Chorus
I will praise You in the sunshine,
I will praise You in the rain.
I will thank You in my laughter,
I will thank You in my pain.
For this is Your will and purpose
For the ones You have redeemed—
To be thankful in all circumstances,
Jesus, teach my heart.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

CHOOSE TO BE THANKFUL! – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Devotional

CHOOSE TO BE THANKFUL!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Devotional

1 Thessalonians 5:18

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Being thankful is not, or at least it should not be, a once-a-year thing. As members of God’s family we are to be thankful at all times. It is not our prerogative to choose when or what we will be thankful for.

In today’s Scripture, Paul admonishes the church at Thessalonica (as well as all of us) that we are to give thanks in everything. Do you frequently look as though you have been baptized in vinegar? That, my dear friend, is not being continually thankful.

Paul also encourages believers to pray continually. That brings us to another embarrassing question: How is your prayer life? Are you continually speaking to the Lord in prayer? It is a discipline that we need to pursue.

The last admonition in line with today’s theme is that the Lord expects us to thank Him in all circumstances. Chew on that while you are munching on your sumptuous dinner. What if you had little or nothing to eat? Would you still give thanks? That is exactly the Lord’s will in any and every circumstance. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

May God richly bless you by your words and actions!

MUSTARD SEED FAITH! – Matthew 17:19 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

MUSTARD SEED FAITH!

Matthew 17:19 – Devotional

Matthew 17:19

“If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

What is the most difficult thing you are facing in your life right now? What task or tribulation is so great you feel like it is ready to flatten you out? Who is looming over you ready to do you harm? What mountain threatens to collapse on you?

Faith is not measured by the bushel, but by the seed. Let me repeat that again: Faith is not measured by the bushel, but by the seed. All God asks of us is a tiny seed of faith, then He steps in to perform the miracle that is needed.

The Lord is eager to bless those who open their hearts to His blessing. We sometimes feel that the challenges we face are too great for God to handle. That is a lot of baloney! Nothing is impossible with God! Even the disciples of Jesus felt they were not up to the task of working miracles.

Before we are too critical of the disciples, what about the situations in our lives? Do we possess the mustard-seed size faith needed to turn our problems into the opportunities for God to bring His deliverance? Are we committed to trust in His strength and wisdom rather than trying to do things ourselves? By faith we can say: Lord I believe, please help my unbelief!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
