SEEK GOD FIRST!

Proverbs 8:17 – Devotional

Proverbs 8:17

I love them that love Me; and those that seek Me early shall find Me.

Sadly I have heard the expression; “When all else fails, try the Lord.” In fact He is the first One we should seek and we should seek His presence continually all through the day and night!

The world is full of self-proclaimed gurus who have all the answers. It is tragic that our so-called Public TV stations carry program after program of such nonsense that give a hint of special insight (if you purchase their book or product).

Rather than succumb to the siren call of the world we need to spend quality time reading God’s Word. Rather than going to the Word as a last result, we need to feed on it first thing in the morning, all through the day and just before sleep.

I leave us with a favorite passage from Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths!”

Let this portion of God’s Word lead and guide you throughout your day!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

LET JESUS BE SEEN! – Proverbs 3:5-6 Devotional

LET JESUS BE SEEN!

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Devotional

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with your whole heart and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways give God the credit, and He will direct you..

Day after day and year after year I sit here at my computer and make a valiant attempt to find the right words to touch some person who stands in need of that very word.

It reminds me that I am not responsible on who reads the words that the Lord places in my heart, I only place my complete trust in the Lord and allow Him to direct the right words to the right person at the right time.

It sounds simple when I write it like that, but in reality I most often feel I fail to get the word across the net to the one who needs it. From the very first I have prayed that one person will be touched by what the Lord enables me to write.

My encouragement to each reader is to place your trust in the Lord. Make it your aim to pass the good news of salvation to those around you. Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in and through you!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

LISTEN CAREFULLY! – Proverbs 5:7 Devotional

LISTEN CAREFULLY!

Proverbs 5:7 – Devotional

Proverbs 5:7

Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of My mouth.

How do we listen carefully? I think the answer is in blocking out extraneous sounds that prevent us from hearing clearly what we want to hear. For music I find that headphones create an entirely new world of sound quality. Music that I enjoy without headphones bring enjoyment, but with the headphones I enter a whole new world of appreciation of the music.

In like manner when I study the Bible, I often am transfixed by reading chapter after chapter and finding new and glorious appreciation for the revelation of eternal truth. It stuns me that many believers neglect the thrill of discovering how our loving God desires a personal relationship with us!

I have come more and more to approach the study of God’s Word with quiet assurance that God is far more anxious to meet with me than I am with Him. How can it be that the God of the universe wants to spend time with the likes of me? Then I read that He even cares for the sparrows, so He also cares for each of us!

Listen carefully as the Lord will speak to you as you open the pages of your Bible (or listen to a recording of Scripture). God loves each of us enough to come in humanity and give Himself for our eternal salvation. LISTEN CAREFULLY!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

I TRUST IN HIM! – Proverbs 3:5-6 Devotional

I TRUST IN HIM!

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Devotional

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths..

There is an old joke that I heard years ago. It seems that a chicken and a pig were discussing what they could do to show their appreciation to farmer Brown. The chicken suggested that they should honor him by providing a breakfast of ham and eggs. The pig snorted that for the chicken it would just be giving an offering — for him it would be a total commitment.

What a silly story… yet it becomes all too appropriate when we relate it to our spiritual walk with the Lord. There are many Christians who are satisfied with only giving a token offering. They do not want to be associated with those they consider to be wild eyed religious fanatics.

As I study the lives of the Old Testament and New Testament saints, I find that they were far sighted and solid in faith. They looked beyond the frothy things of this world and saw the reality of eternity with the Lord.

In today’s Scripture, we have a road map for our life. When we place our complete trust in the Lord we have the confident assurance that He will direct our paths. I choose to have the Lord of the universe direct my life. I trust in Him!

Blessings dear heart! Walk with God today and be a blessing!

WE ARE NEVER ALONE! – Proverbs 18:24 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

WE ARE NEVER ALONE!

Proverbs 18:24 – Devotional

Proverbs 18:24

“A man that has friends must himself be a friend to others. There is a friend that sticks closer to us than a brother.”

Being alone is a sad and dismal position. We really do need each other and a friend is one of the greatest possessions we can have. It is a sad and poor man who has no friends. Friends are different than companions. Companions may be close by, but really are not close enough for us to share our deepest feelings.

Thinking back across the years of my life, I have had a wealth of friends. Many years ago I received a plaque from a dear friend that holds special meaning for me. It reads; “A friend is one who knows you as you are, understands where you’ve been, accepts who you’ve become, and still gently invites you to grow.”

You may have such a dear friend, but as believers we all have a friend who is even closer. Of course I am speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the One who is with us at all times. We are never really alone when others have departed, for He stays with us all through life’s darkest hours.

You may even question whether it even helps to pray. Hold it! That fatalistic view of life is like slamming the door in the face of our closest friend who patiently stands at the door and quietly knocks. He is always here to help us. Please open the door and allow Him to heal all of the hurts you feel right now.

Blessings dear hearts! May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
