SALVATION JOY! – Psalm 51:10-12 Devotional

SALVATION JOY!

Psalm 51:10-12 – Devotional

Psalm 51:10-12

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

Is it possible for a born again Christian to have such joy and happiness within that it oozes to the surface? The answer is a resounding, YES! Not only is it possible for we Christians to have joy within, it is vital. Without the sincere inner joy of soul there is hopelessness. In Proverbs 29:18 we read, “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.”

In today’s Scripture we read a prayer of David after being confronted by Nathan the prophet about his sin with Bathsheba. I read in David’s prayer a desire to return to the joy of his salvation which had disappeared when he had allowed sin to reign in his life.

It tells me that God’s gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, brings joy. We can call it–SALVATION JOY! It is that inexpressible lift of spirit in knowing that our sins have been forgiven and that we have been given the precious gift of eternal life.

Sin robs us of our joy and makes us miserable inside and outside. The way we can find that joy once again is to pray as David prayed, “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me.”

As we sincerely pray that prayer, we can be assured that the Lord will hear and draw us close to His heart. The closer we come to God, the greater our joy. Let me close with an old hymn that contained these words, “It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, and the truth has never yet been told!” That’s the joy I want!

Here’s a modernized version of the old hymn by Russ Hansen.

Joy Unspeakable (lyrics by B. E. Warren, 1900, based on 1 Peter 1:8) – download mp3

1 Peter 1:8 (KJV), “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not,
yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.”

Blessings dear hearts. Walk with God today, trust Him completely, and be a blessing.

WORDS AND THOUGHTS! – Psalm 19:14 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

WORDS AND THOUGHTS!

Psalm 19:14 – Devotional

Psalm 19:14

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”

Over the years I have made it my practice to end my day by reading from the Book of Psalms. It always reminds me of reading aloud to my eldest daughter as she was in her hospital bed and near the end of her life here on earth.

The sure confidence it gave to both of us was that there was nothing to fear when we come to the end of our days here on earth. It is sad that so many people spend all of their time and effort on things that are of this world and will pass away.

One of my thoughts as I read God’s Word is that our spiritual life has far more importance than the fleeting things of this world. Day after day we encounter people who seem to have an abundance of this worlds goods, but lack the confident assurance that their name is written in God’s Book of Life!

Be sure you have invited Jesus to come into your heart and given you hope that is eternal. Let our words and thoughts focus on what God has prepared for us!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

JESUS IS COMING AGAIN! – Psalm 118:24 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

JESUS IS COMING AGAIN!

Psalm 118:24 – Devotional

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

There is something about a new day which gives us a hope of a bright new future. There is a day coming in which there will be no night! There is a day when all our tears and sorrows will be a thing of the past. It will be such a day that we will not even be able to recall any vestige of pain or longing! It will be a day that will be unlike any day before — a day that will never end!

That is what we have to look forward to. It is our hope and expectation as believers. Isn’t it great?! It is what gives us the drive to keep on keeping on. It is a day, unlike all other days. But we must recognize that we are still living in our present-day and age, which may be thought of as “this day.”

If we fail to live “this day” in accordance with God’s will, we will not be prepared for “that day” which is our eternal hope. It is in the decisions we make in “this day” that qualify us for “that day!” Some wag has come up with a cliché about people who are “so heavenly minded that they are of no earthly use!” God forbid that we ever fall into that category.

Jesus is coming again. He has come the first time to give us a day to be remembered. He has promised that He is coming again to take us to be with Him. We must share the good news of His gospel to those who are lost. We also need to lift those who need a word of encouragement or a helping hand. We have no end to the various ministries which are there for us to perform. A willing heart and a commitment to the Word of God will work miracles. What a day it will be!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing!

OUR GRACIOUS LORD! – Psalm 89:14 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

OUR GRACIOUS LORD!

Psalm 89:14 – Devotional

Psalm 89:14

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face.”

Perhaps you have heard the story of a young girl who was totally absorbed in drawing a picture. All of the other students had finished their art work, but she was still working feverishly at her picture.

When her teacher asked what she was drawing, she said she was drawing a picture of God. Taken aback, her teacher told her it was impossible to draw a picture of God since no one knew what He looked like. The small child looked confidently at her teacher and replied; “They will when I am finished!”

Wow! What confidence! In reality, she was very close to the truth. We live out the picture of God by the manner in which we live our life. In fact our actions show forth the reality of God in our life.

The question that we must always carry with us is just how well we represent the reality of our living Lord to a sin-sick, lost and dying world. Is the picture of the Lord that we are living out one that will draw people to know Him?

I may fail at many things, but above all else, I want my life to radiate with the glorious essence of Jesus living and active in my soul!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Psalm 23 (World English Bible, WEB)

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil.
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and loving kindness shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the Lord’s house forever.
