LOOKING BEYOND! – Psalm 8:4 Devotional

LOOKING BEYOND!

Psalm 8:4 – Devotional

Psalm 8:4

“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”

I enjoy searching the heavens and contemplating what it will be like when all believers will be given glorified bodies and allowed to soar through the heavens and explore worlds beyond our own. What an experience that will be!

As many of you know, I have had the experience of officiating at the funeral services of my mother, my brother, my two daughters, as well as numerous friends. I have also felt the terrible loss of my precious wife who was a very part of my life.

No amount of wishful thinking will ever return our loved ones to us on this earth, but a proper acceptance that God has welcomed them into His presence. Dealing with broken-heartedness entails re-directing the focus of our attention to the glorious reunion day that awaits us in glory.

John assures us one result of our belief in God is that our thinking is different from those who have no hope. Until that day we can have the beautiful assurance that there is a great reunion day waiting for us!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

A CLEAN HEART! – Psalm 51:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

A CLEAN HEART!

Psalm 51:10 – Devotional

Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Have you ever wondered who you can count on to do what they have promised to do? Let me ask another, more-penetrating question. Have you ever made a commitment to pray for someone and after days, weeks, or even months, later realize that you have failed to follow through? You have betrayed your trust, my friend!

It is a serious thing to violate your promise to those around you, but what about the promises you have made to the Lord―promises that you made to Him but that you have failed to keep? I must confess that there have been times I have had to hang my head in shame and ask the Lord to forgive my failure.

It is easy to see the faults of others while at the same time ignoring my own shortcomings. I think that the more easily we find fault in others the easier it is to ignore our own failures.

There have been many times that people have disappointed me by saying one thing and then doing another. It hurt and made me feel betrayed. The answer is to take my hurt to the foot of the cross and leave it there.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S HEART MEDICINE! – Psalm 31:24 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GOD’S HEART MEDICINE!

Psalm 31:24 – Devotional

Psalm 31:24

“Be of good courage and the Lord will strengthen your heart,
everyone who places their hope in the Lord.”

Those of us who have experienced open heart surgery, know the long hours of recovery. I can still visualize the heart patients walking the hospital hallway, clutching pillows to ease the stress on our surgical wound.

We may have looked like the walking wounded, but there was confidence that our surgeons had performed a life-giving act in our behalf. In an even more profound way, the Lord Jesus does heart surgery that prepares our spiritual heart to be strong in our service for Him.

As I walked (slowly crept) down the halls of the surgical floor, I noticed that there was a difference in the way patients reacted. Some seemed to curl up as they walked, while others attempted to stand as erect as possible. My nurses told me those were the ones who healed the soonest. Guess which one I was!

God’s heart medicine is His precious Word. I am alarmed at the way some people fail to take the life-giving medicine that has been provided for our spiritual health and strength. I urge all of us to faithfully take God’s heart medicine!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S POWERFUL WORD! – Psalm 33:6 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GOD’S POWERFUL WORD!

Psalm 33:6 – Devotional

Psalm 33:6

“By the Word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”

We live among a people who are increasingly impressed by power. The stronger the better, where many are concerned. The world that is so impressed with power all too often tends to ignore or belittle the God who by the power of His Word created everything!

God not only created everything that exists by His word, He reveals His power day and night to those of us who will open our spiritual eyes and see all of God’s glory displayed in absolute brilliance.

In the presence of this mighty power is our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ who tenderly gathered little children and social outcasts around Him that He might bless them. To me that truly is God’s glory displayed in human form!

What is your urgent need right now? Not necessarily your want, but your spiritual need to allow you to serve Christ effectively. God is ready to fill each of us with His presence and power to do abundantly above all that we can ask or think. Just come before Him as a small child seeking a father’s love. He is there with His mighty power to touch the seeking soul.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

BE A RADIANT BELIEVER! – Psalm 32:11 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

BE A RADIANT BELIEVER!

Psalm 32:11 – Devotional

Psalm 32:11

“Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!”

It seems that many believers seem to be “secret service agents.” By that I mean that they may have received Christ as their Savior, but they want to keep it quiet so they will not be ridiculed for their faith.

The Church of Jesus Christ has always been strongest when it goes through the flames of adversity. It is not that believers seek to be persecuted, but when their light of Christ illuminates the darkness, it reveals the darkness of sin around them.

The next time you look in the mirror; (I hope you will not be too shocked!) ask yourself this question: Does this face reflect the glorious truth that Jesus loves each one of us enough to come into the world and die for us?

If Jesus loves us so much that He would die for us, is it not reasonable that we should devote ourselves to live for Him? Of course it is! Make it your aim this day to let your life be filled with the joy of the Lord! You may be aware of this fact in your heart, but let your face know about it!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
