HE HIDETH MY SOUL! – Exodus 33:22 Devotional

HE HIDETH MY SOUL!

Exodus 33:22 – Devotional

Exodus 33:22

“So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

HE HIDETH MY SOUL – Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby (1820-1915)

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He’s hiding my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain:
He’s hiding my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He’s hiding my life in the depths of his love
And cov’ring me there with his hand,
And cov’ring me there with his hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord;
He carries my burdens away,
He’s holding me up, and I shall not be moved;
He’s giving me strength day by day. [Refrain]

With numberless blessings each moment he crowns
And fills with his fullness divine;
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer is mine. [Refrain]

When clothed in his brightness, transported I rise
To meet him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, his wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high. [Refrain]

GODLY WISDOM! – Proverbs 23:9 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GODLY WISDOM!

Proverbs 23:9 – Devotional

Proverbs 23:9

” . . . a fool will totally reject the wisdom of wise words.”

I recall talking with a good friend and he mentioned he had heard a comment to keep in mind: “Never argue with a fool. You will lower yourself to his level and discover that he has more experience than you at that lower level.”

I often reflect on the homespun wit and wisdom of Ben Riordan, the Juvenile Court Judge I worked for many years ago. One of his favorite expressions was to describe a fool as one who might just appear to be a fool… until he opened his mouth…at which time he removed all doubt!

There is a definition given in Psalm 53:1; “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.” As we consider that definition we discover that many people fall into that category. It is frustrating and counterproductive to argue with those who deny God.

Argumentation will never lead to victory. We must live out our faith in such a way that Jesus will be seen in and through us without a word being spoken. The best witnesses for Jesus are those who allow Him to use us as His instruments of grace. May the beauty of Jesus be seen in us!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

A FRESH VISION! – Proverbs 29:18 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

A FRESH VISION!

Proverbs 29:18 – Devotional

Proverbs 29:18

” . . . happy is the one who keeps the law.”

Many assembly line workers become lethargic and even ineffective since they are required to perform the same menial task over and over again. To remedy this situation, some companies have assembly line workers go through the entire production process, showing them the vital part each worker plays in getting the product to its successful completion.

Our “eyes” can frequently become clouded and distorted. We see with such limited vision that we fail to see the final completion. God sees the end from the beginning and that is why it is imperative for us to search our Bible to see God’s plans.

There is a portion of the Bible that is frequently neglected — the concordance. It should become a regular practice to go to a concordance (even the one at the rear of our Bible) and find references to key words.

We will discover a fresh vision from God when we become actively involved in searching to find meaning to this life that we are living. Stop focusing on the minute details of your life to the neglect of God’s ultimate plan. Ask the Lord to show you His FRESH VISION for you.

Blessings dear hearts! Draw near to God and be a blessing!

DO UNTO OTHERS! – Philippians 2:3 Devotional

DO UNTO OTHERS!

Philippians 2:3 – Devotional

Philippians 2:3

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”

It is far too easy to downplay the things that are meaningful to another person. They may have achieved some major goal in their life yet it is easy for us to ignore it or act as if it were insignificant.

We need to go out of our way to become excited about some accomplishment that someone shared with us. If someone shares a passage or verse they had memorized we need to explode with joy and congratulations. It was just the response that person needs. Our positive response may lead that person to do even more.

It does not have to be spiritual accomplishments that we praise. I once served as an associate pastor in a large church. Roscoe was a man with a severe learning disorder and could barely talk. He loved to bowl. Somehow I discovered he carried a small book with his weekly bowling scores. Each week I made a point of looking at his book and getting excited about his scores. They were sometimes 25 or 30, but I tried to make him feel special. It not only made Roscoe feel special, it made me feel blessed to spend time with him.

Who do you know that needs to be lifted by your approval? What words can you speak or actions shown that will make that person feel special? Try it!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GIVE ME HOPE! – 1 Thessalonians 2:19 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GIVE ME HOPE!

1 Thessalonians 2:19 – Devotional

1 Thessalonians 2:19

“For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?”

Some of you who are reading the DailyEvotional for today feel that you are at the end of your rope. The pressures of life have been crushing in on you from all directions and, one after another, your safe havens have disappeared. You may even feel that there is not place to go for help.

“Hope” is thought of as wishing for something that probably will not happen as we know the likelihood is very slim. That concept of the meaning seems to be all too common. Let me correct that idea once and for all.

The Greek word for hope as used in 1 Thessalonians 2:19 is the word elpis. It carries with it the meaning of confident expectation that God is the answer. Do you hear that? It is confidently waiting for something the Lord has prepared especially for us!

Let me read that one more time – It is confidently waiting for something the Lord has prepared especially for us!

It is not what we desire for ourselves, but what God wants to do in and through us.

I think the greatest joy in life is to be used of God.

Blessings dear hearts. Walk with God today and be a blessing and have HOPE—confident expectation that God is THE ANSWER!
