AN OPEN INVITATION!

Luke 15:31 – Devotional

Luke 15:31

“And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all I have is yours.’”

I love the parables of Jesus. They have taught me so much. Jesus did not spend His earthly ministry teaching the spiritually elite, although He amazed them when He was in the Temple at twelve years of age. His ministry was to share the good news of hope with the common people.

It seems to be very evident that His parable of the Prodigal Son was given to encourage those who had lost their way and that there was a Father waiting to welcome them home with rejoicing.

I know that the Lord is waiting with open arms to receive the discouraged and down-hearted prodigal. It makes me want to shout: What a mighty God we serve! I mean that with all my heart and soul.

It is my desire to always strive to be used by our Heavenly Father to cheerfully welcome home those who wake up and realize that they would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

LEARN A LESSON! – Jeremiah 35:13 Devotional

LEARN A LESSON!

Jeremiah 35:13 – Devotional

Jeremiah 35:13

“Will you not learn a lesson and obey My words?’ declares the LORD.”

When I was a junior in high school several of us journeyed a few hundred miles from home to work in the harvest. We were able to secure temporary employment at an insecticide processing company.

In the processing room was a large platform where various bags of a powder-like product weighing 50 to 75 pounds were dumped into a large hopper. A 6’x8’piece of ½ inch plywood would be lowered while mixing. When it was open there were chains on either side to prevent the bags it from falling over. The idea was to empty the product in the center of the opening away from the chains.

An older man, given to drink, had worked there for quite a while and supervised our activities. He handled the mixing. We quickly learned the process, of staying clear of the chains, but that old veteran never seemed to get it through his head.

Time after time a heavy bag hit against the chain and it would slam the plywood down striking his head. He was almost bald and his head was covered with sores from where the plywood had hit him so many times.

As I have thought about this incident, it brings to mind how many people know that the wages of sin produces bitter dividends. But in spite of knowing the consequences, they will not learn a lesson. May we all be teachable!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

THE ANSWER IS GOD! – Job 42:5-6 Devotional

THE ANSWER IS GOD!

Job 42:5-6 – Devotional

Job 42:5-6

“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.”

I frequently receive messages from readers who feel as if the enemy of our souls has his weapons trained directly on them. They seem to give Satan more credit than he deserves.

I have been thinking of a few questions that may help to put things in perspective.

  • Who is more powerful, God or Satan?
  • Who is the defeated foe, God or Satan?
  • Who wants to make your life miserable, God or Satan?
  • Who wants you to allow Him to fight your battles, God or Satan?
  • Who wants to tempt you into giving up, God or Satan?

You could add many more such questions. The important thing is to come to the same conclusion that Job did in today’s Scripture. It is not just hearing about God, but opening our spiritual eyes to see Him ready to meet our need. The answer to all of the above questions is God!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

ALWAYS THANK GOD! – Psalm 30:4 Devotional

ALWAYS THANK GOD!

Psalm 30:4 – Devotional

Psalm 30:4

“Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.”

Years ago I heard an illustration about a little boy who had climbed on the roof of his house to retrieve his ball. It was one of the cedar shingle roofs that had been weathered for many years. As he reached for his ball, he suddenly began to slowly slide down the steep pitched roof. He knew that there was nothing to stop him, and without Divine intervention, he was in for a very bad fall.

He began to pray as loud as he could for the Lord to save him. Just before reaching the edge of the roof, a rusty old shingle nail was sticking up and snagged the seat of his pants. He looked toward heaven and shouted out, “Forget it Lord, this nail has saved me!”

Are you are able to visualize those times when God touched us in a special way, but we failed to give Him the thanks and praise He so rightly deserved? We need to start paying on what we owe in the way of exaltation and rejoicing.

In our hectic world we all too often are caught up with our own concerns that we fail to thank God for all He does for us. Without Him all we do and all we hope to do amounts to nothing. It is only what is done for Christ that matters!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing!
