UNDER HIS WINGS! – Psalm 17:8 Devotional

UNDER HIS WINGS!

Psalm 17:8 – Devotional

Psalm 17:8

“Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I once read about a forest service worker who was walking through an area that had just been ravaged by a forest fire. He saw a strange mound and stopped to check it out. To his astonishment it was a mother bird that had been killed by the fire. As he knelt to examine the bird, he heard a peep from under the pile of ashes. When he turned the bird over he found several chicks.

Instead of flying to save herself, the mother had sacrificed herself in order to protect her brood from the fire that was sweeping toward them. That is what Jesus has done for us. He wants to shelter us under His wings from the firestorm of life.

In 1896, William Cushing wrote the words and Ira Sankey composed the music to the hymn, Under His Wings. Enjoy this featured hymn from GloryScapes.

Under His Wings

1. Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.

Refrain: Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.

2. Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

Refrain: Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.

3. Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life’s trials are over;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
Resting in Jesus, I am safe evermore.

Refrain: Under His wings, under His wings, who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide, safely abide forever.

FAITHFUL OR UNJUST? – Luke 16:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

FAITHFUL OR UNJUST?

Luke 16:10 – Devotional

Luke 16:10

“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much;
and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.

In a world that largely perverts justice, it is easy to become jaded in our thinking and prone to be pessimistic. It seems that those who strive to do what is noble and right are punished, while those who sin and sow discord are rewarded. So what else is new? That has been going on since sin entered into the world!

We are not called to be overcome by sin, but to overcome by means of the shed blood of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ! That means that we are to live a life that reflects the indwelling power of salvation that overcomes the world.

The question is: ARE WE FAITHFUL OR UNJUST? Are we just as faithful when we are all alone as when we are surrounded by witnesses? If we are the one lone born-again believer in the crowd, do we behave as a true believer should? I pray that the words of our mouth and the thoughts of our mind will be pleasing to our Savior and Lord!

Blessings dear hearts walk with God today and be a blessing!

LEARNING TO LEAN! – Proverbs 3:5-6 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

LEARNING TO LEAN!

Proverbs 3:5-6 – Devotional

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I have had the DELIGHTFUL (I mean that sarcastically) experience of being struck with shingles. No, not the kind you put on your roof to keep out the rain, but the medical condition.

Most times a case of shingles produces blisters and extreme pain. I had that to some extent, but unfortunately my strain took a more sinister turn and went into the nerves of my left leg. It caused me to lose the feeling in that leg and resort to crutches until the condition ran its course.

During that time of pain and paralysis I learned more and more to depend upon the Lord. I was to face even more situations that would force me to lean heavily upon the Lord. Loss physically, financially, emotionally or the death of a loved one forces us to lean on the One who is always there and never fails.

If you are leaning on finances or others as your support, that may be fine. I am here to remind you that those resources may not always be there for you. On the other hand, the Lord Jesus Christ is here now and always. Jesus never fails!

Blessings dear hearts walk with God today and be a blessing!
