TRUE FAITH IS ALIVE!

James 2:22 – Devotional

James 2:2

“Faith working together with Abraham’s actions produced the confidence in the Lord that resulted in his being approved by God. His faith was alive!”

When our children were about one year old they seemed to burst with joy by being able to stand on their own two feet while holding onto a chair or something just as solid. It may even be an adults hand, but it gave them confidence to stand.

Spiritually we are called by the Lord to grow spiritually in order to be able to take steps on our own and then to grow stronger and stronger. The ultimate goal for the follower of Christ is to bring others to faith in Christ and/or to teach them to walk.

How are we doing? More precisely, how are you doing in that regard? Are you faithfully walking on your own with your hand clutching the Lord’s hand? Is your walk with the Lord demonstrating that you are becoming more like Him?

True faith that is alive, will increasingly take on Christ-like characteristics. Pause long enough in your crazy life to examine your walk with the Lord. True faith in the Lord will lead us to increasingly be more and more like Him!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

JESUS PAID IT ALL! – Titus 3:4-5 Devotional

JESUS PAID IT ALL!

Titus 3:4-5 – Devotional

Titus 3:4-5

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”

One night, 1886, a group of Christians were singing in a down-and-out part of a large city. A distraught young woman questioned if it would be possible for a sinner like her to be saved. Listening to her heart-cry for salvation, she was taken back to the mission and left with the ladies in charge. The young, wayward woman was brought to Christ that night.

A situation was secured for her in a minister’s family. Sometime later she became ill and had to be taken to a hospital. She rapidly failed and it became evident that she would not be long on earth. One of the gentlemen, whom she had met on that night on the street, was visiting her in the ward. After quoting a few suitable verses of Scripture, he repeated her favorite hymn, “All to Christ I owe.” Two hours afterward she passed away.

Of course the greatest payment in our behalf is the gift of eternal life. It cost the horrible death of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He paid what we could not pay. He went to the cross voluntarily because He knew we would never be able to pay the cost.

Jesus Paid It All

1. I hear the Savior say, Thy strength indeed is small!
Child of weakness watch and pray, Find in Me thine all in all.

Refrain: Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

2. For nothing good have I, whereby Thy grace to claim
I will wash my garments white, In the blood of Calvary’s Lamb.

Refrain: Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

3. And when before the throne, I stand in Him complete,
I will lay my trophies down, all lay down at Jesus feet.

Refrain: Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

LET YOUR FAITH BE SEEN! – James 2:20 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

LET YOUR FAITH BE SEEN!

James 2:20 – Devotional

James 2:20

“I want you to know, O foolish person, that faith without works is dead!”

We may not be called by God to pastor a congregation, or lead an area wide crusade, or write an exhaustive commentary, BUT – we as believers are called to live in such a way that Jesus may be seen in us!

I have frequently repeated a phrase I heard many years ago; “I would rather SEE a sermon lived out on in a daily walk rather than hear one preached out with a flurry of words from a pulpit.

This is not to say that preaching and sharing the Life Giving Gospel of Jesus Christ is not essential, it is! The point I want to stress is that our message of life-giving faith in Christ must be accompanied by our yielded life in Christ.

It reminds me of a phrase from a favorite hymn we used to sing frequently. “Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me!” Are we allowing the beauty of Jesus to shine brightly in our life? I pray that we are!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
