IMMANUEL–GOD WITH US! – Isaiah 7:14 Devotional

IMMANUEL–GOD WITH US!

Isaiah 7:14 – Devotional

Isaiah 7:14

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This Friday we have a special treat for you. Russ Hansen has combined AI and Scripture to produce an original song entitled, “Immanuel!” inspired by Scripture from John 1, Matthew 1 & 28, Philippians 2, Romans 8. Russ would appreciate your feedback at inspiration@thegoodbookcompany.com.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Immanuel (God With Us)

The Word became flesh and dwelt with us
We beheld His glory, full of grace
The only Son from the Father came
God revealed before our eyes

No one has seen the Father’s face
But the Son has made Him known

Immanuel, Immanuel
God with us, God with us
Immanuel, Immanuel
The Word made flesh, God with us

Though He was in very nature God
He humbled Himself, a servant King
Walking with us, bearing our grief
Heaven stepped into our need

Faithful to every promise spoken
Love has come in Jesus’ name

Immanuel, Immanuel
God with us, God with us
Immanuel, Immanuel
The Word made fles h, God with us

By His blood we’re brought near
Reconciled, no longer lost
Born again by His Spirit
Christ in us, our living hope

Immanuel, Immanuel
God with us, now God within
Immanuel, Immanuel
Nothing can separate us

“I am with you always”
To the end of the age
Immanuel

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SILENT NIGHT! – Luke 2:2-10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

SILENT NIGHT!

Luke 2:2-10 – Devotional

Luke 2:2-10

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.’

Several years ago our church had finished a wonderful Christmas Eve service. Earlier there had been candles placed inside white lunch bags that lined the driveway leading to the church.

Joyce and I had volunteered to extinguish the candles after everyone had left. It had snowed a few days earlier and there were still a few inches on the ground. The temperature was below freezing when we crunched through the snow to the far end of the driveway. It was so quiet and beautiful that we were moved in our spirit with the beauty of God’s creation and the carol Silent Night.

The words of this well loved carol were written in 1818 by Josef Mohr after he had seen a play about the birth of Jesus. He was in a reflective mood and walked to a hill overlooking his village in the Austrian Alps. The view of the snow covering the village reminded him of a poem he had written a few years earlier. The poem was about the night the angel announced the birth of Jesus.

The next day he took the words of his poem to Franz Gruber, who had just composed a melody. He re-worked the melody to match the words to the poem Mohr had written and our beloved carol, “Silent Night” was born.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

SILENT NIGHT

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Savior is born
Christ, the Savior is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

HE IS ALL WE NEED! – Psalm 37:39 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

HE IS ALL WE NEED!

Psalm 37:39 – Devotional

Psalm 37:39

“The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble.

Many of us who have traveled with children in the car remember the constant refrain from the back seat, “Are we there yet?” Hearing this over and over again can quickly become a source of irritation.

In the same way we expect God to act upon our requests on our schedule rather than on His. Joseph or Job are excellent examples of what it means to wait upon the Lord.

If God hears our prayer (and He does), why does it take so long for us to see the results? Certainly the element of timing may be involved, but we need to understand that we are part of God’s perfect plan at work.

Just because we do not receive answers in our timing does not mean God does not hear us, or that He is unconcerned about us. Remember that He is in absolute control and in His time the answer will come. Our part is to remain faithful and keep our eyes on Him, not on our request. “HE IS ALL WE NEED!”

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SOMEONE CARES! – Galatians 5:13 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

SOMEONE CARES!

Galatians 5:13 – Devotional

Galatians 5:13

“Dear brothers and sisters, we have been called to enjoy liberty, but we must never use our freedom to obey the flesh, but rather to serve each other.

Thinking back across almost ninety years of my life, I am stunned by the degree society has seemingly become more self-centered and greedy. Don’t get me wrong, the heart of man (and woman) has always been sinful by nature, but it seems to be increasingly so.

I think we as born again believers have a calling, as never before, to live our lives in such a way as to serve others in the manner in which the Lord Jesus would have us serve.

For that to happen, we of necessity must begin each day by talking to the Lord. Open your Bible and also your heart. Prepare yourself to receive your marching orders for the day, then go out to fight the fight of faith!

Perhaps the best way to fight the fight of faith is to consciously be aware of ways to aid and assist others. That may be by a gift, a word of encouragement, or simply a smile. The important thing is to let someone know that someone cares!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
