GOD IS AVAILABLE TO ALL!

2 Kings 5:3 – Devotional

2 Kings 5:3

“If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria, he would heal him of his leprosy.”

What are we to do when we are caught in a situation that enslaves us? We are to remain faithful!

In today’s Scripture we read about an unknown young girl that was taken captive from Israel and exiled to a foreign nation where she served the wife of a Syrian general, Naaman, who suffered with leprosy. She demonstrated kindness by suggesting the general go to Samaria where a prophet would heal him.

This young girl had never seen the prophet Elisha heal someone with leprosy, but she had faith that he could and would. Her God was available to all!

The general believed her and went with gifts to the king of Israel. How sad that the King was terrified, while the servant girl trusted God! The King of Israel lacked the faith of a young servant girl. Finally the Prophet, Elisha, heard about the king’s dilemma and asked that Naaman be sent to him.

There was a miracle about to take place that would show the power of God doing what the political powers were unable to do.

We serve a God in heaven who is able to do more than we can ever think or conceive!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

BE ON GUARD! – 2 Peter 3:11 Devotional

BE ON GUARD!

2 Peter 3:11 – Devotional

2 Peter 3:11

“Be on guard so you will not be carried away by the error of the lawless and be led away from your secure position.”

As a former city police officer and Air Force Combat Missile Commander, I know what it is to be on guard. I have spent many wakeful nights to insure others are safe in their beds. The threat of enemies is deterred by those who are constantly on guard.

It is an awesome responsibility to be placed in a position of trust. As a police officer I was able to break up family disputes and save business owners from losing their property to burglars. In the Air Force I stood ready to defend our nation in the event an enemy launched a missile toward our shores.

Spiritually, I feel the need to defend the inerrant Word of God against the relentless attacks of liberal theologians who feel a committee is able to set aside the absolutes of Scripture. Defending God’s Word is a responsibility each of us should assume.

The best way to defend the faith is to follow what this passage in 2 Peter 3:12 advises: “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” The more we study God’s Word and commune with Him in prayer, the more we will be able to stand guard.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FROM PITY TO PRAISE! – Matthew 5:11 Devotional

FROM PITY TO PRAISE!

Matthew 5:11 – Devotional

Matthew 5:11

“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.”

When I hear of believers who are experiencing persecution, I am reminded that we all are destined to encounter times of trial of one sort or the other. It is in times of trials and testing that we need to show the power of God to rejoice!

Why on earth would someone who is experiencing lies, persecution, and insults rejoice? To show forth the power of Christ to shine brilliantly is a sin darkened world! One reason we encounter harsh treatment is to demonstrate our faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

It is essential to examine our persecution to determine if the cause is the result of faith in Jesus Christ or because of some sort of misconduct on our part. We cannot claim to be persecuted for Christ’s sake if we are guilty of doing something wrong.

Here is the bottom line—if we encounter ordeals in our life that are not the result of our sinful actions, we are blessed. We are told to count it joy and even to rejoice in our trials. We don’t need pity, we need to praise!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

CHRIST IS MY ALL! – Philippians 3:7 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

CHRIST IS MY ALL!

Philippians 3:7 – Devotional

Philippians 3:7

“All that once was valuable to me, I now count as loss for the sake of Christ.”

Sometimes we observe people who seem to have everything the heart could ever desire. A closer observation will frequently reveal that the people who have the most seem to be the ones with the least joy.

At this very moment there are countless Christians around the world who are being persecuted for the sake of Christ. As a matter of fact the followers of Christ have always been the targets of unbelievers.

In spite of persecution, in fact we might say; “Because of persecution,” the message of the cross has been proclaimed loud and clear. We are never to seek to be persecuted for the sake of Christ, but we may very well be prepared to expect it.

If Christ is my all and in all I can discount the situations of life that I may encounter. I may experience times of plenty or famine, but the Lord has promised to be with me every step of the way. I can live my life with the words of that old hymn ringing in my memory; “Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before!” Praise the Lord!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
