GOD’S PROTECTION! – Psalm 23:4 Devotional

GOD’S PROTECTION!

Psalm 23:4 – Devotional

Psalm 23:4

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Years ago my wife Joyce worked as a Legislative Assistant for the Washington State House of Representatives. She did not drive so I made it a habit of dropping her off and picking her up from work.

One afternoon I was waiting for her when I noticed a car I had never seen before stop in the waiting area. For some reason I was suspicious of the driver as he seemed to be acting out of the ordinary.

About then I saw Heather, a receptionist that worked on the same floor as Joyce, exit the building and start walking to the parking area. The suspicious driver started his car and I noticed that he was following her. Immediately I started my car and followed him. As Heather reached her car I drove next to the stranger and gave him my most ominous stare. He quickly left the area. I called the police to report what I had observed and gave them his license number.

Even when we are not aware of it, God is our protector. The evil one may be lurking about, but we have a loving God who is always on guard to insure that we are safe from all harm. Rest in Him alone.

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing!

REVIVE US AGAIN! – 2 Chronicles 7:14 Devotional

REVIVE US AGAIN!

2 Chronicles 7:14 – Devotional

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Back in the 70’s, I was an associate pastor of a large church. One Sunday, just before the service an elderly lady collapsed in the aisle near the rear of the church. I was just entering and observed one of our members, a medical doctor, doing chest compressions on the little lady.

When he saw me, he immediately called me over and told me to take over while he checked her for vital signs. It was the first and only time I have ever felt my hands repeatedly crush down on a person’s chest to keep the heart pumping blood throughout the body. It is an awesome and fearful experience. (By-the-way, the lady survived this traumatic ordeal after a few days in the hospital.)

There are people around us who seem to be in spiritual cardiac arrest. We see them stagger and collapse. The question is how we are going to respond. Do we wring our hands and cluck our tongue, or do we dive in to give spiritual restoration? Today’s Scripture provides the steps to revival. Back in 1863, William P. Mackey wrote the words to this week’s hymn.

Revive Us Again

We praise Thee, O God! For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus Who died, And is now gone above.

Refrain: Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.

We praise Thee, O God! For Thy Spirit of light,
Who hath shown us our Savior, And scattered our night.

Refrain: Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.

All glory and praise! To the Lamb that was slain,
Who hath borne all our sins, And hath cleansed every stain.

Refrain: Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.

All glory and praise! To the God of all grace,
Who hast brought us, and sought us, And guided our ways.

Refrain: Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.

Revive us again; Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled, With fire from above.

Refrain: Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Revive us again.

LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE! – Luke 12:18-19 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE!

Luke 12:18-19 – Devotional

Luke 12:18-19

So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.'”

Since I have astigmatism that can only be corrected with glasses, I have had to wear them most of my life (a long, long time). Over the years I have heard people talk about being near sighted and even once worked for a near-sighted Probate Court Judge (his vision was great while reading or seeing anything close up).

He was telling a group of us about being fitted for glasses when he was in his 20’s–it was almost a shock to his senses that he could actually read house numbers from the street! He had no idea that this was what people with normal eyesight were able to see.

Isn’t it tragic that most people on the face of the earth are spiritually near sighted? They see only those things that are part of the here and now, but fail to perceive that the hear and now is but a vapor compared to the vast reality of eternity.

Satan has blinded the eyes of the unregenerate so that they refuse to consider that eternity is merely a heartbeat away. The things of this life will quickly be gone and only those who have received Jesus Christ by personal invitation will enter into the home he has prepared for those who’s names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Are you near sighted or far sighted?

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing!
