BLESS THE LORD! – Psalm 103:1 Devotional

BLESS THE LORD!

Psalm 103:1 – Devotional

Psalm 103:1

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy name.

From time to time we observe people who talk to themselves. Some humorist said he was the only one who could understand and appreciate his humor. I feel that we are prone to live our life far too lightly with little regard for the eternity that awaits.

In today’s Scripture, it is enlightening that the Psalmist speaks to himself. This type of self-conversation is spiritual in nature and may even be correctly viewed as a form of spiritual worship. It is a glorious chorus directed to the Lord who loves us enough to give His life that we may have eternal life!

I am not sure what will motivate you to find praise and glory this day, but start the day with blessing and praise. Enjoy the many things that the Lord will bring across you path and above all, seek to be a blessing to those around you!

The world seems to be getting more vile and dark with each passing day. We have a choice to either moan and complain about the darkness, or bless the Lord and let the light of Jesus shine so bright that those in darkness may be drawn to the LIGHT!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SEEING GOD! – Job 42:5 Devotional

SEEING GOD!

Job 42:5 – Devotional

Job 42:5

“I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth Thee.

I frequently receive messages from readers who feel as if the enemy of our souls has his weapons trained directly on them. They seem to give Satan more credit than he deserves.

I have been thinking of a few questions that may help to put things in perspective.

      • Who is more powerful, God or Satan?
      • Who is the defeated foe, God or Satan?
      • Who wants to make your life miserable, God or Satan?
      • Who wants you to allow Him to fight your battles, God or Satan?
      • Who wants to tempt you into giving up, God or Satan?

You could add many more such questions. The important thing is to come to the same conclusion that Job did in today’s Scripture. It is not just hearing about God, but opening our spiritual eyes to see Him ready to meet our need.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FIXED ON GOD! – Psalm 57:7 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

FIXED ON GOD!

Psalm 57:7 – Devotional

Psalm 57:7

“My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

To be fixed on God means: to be set up, to be firmly established, to be stable, to be secure, to be enduring, to be securely determined, to be directed aright, to be fixed aright, to be established, to be steadfast (in the moral sense).

Just because a person gives a glowing testimony does not insure a steadfast walk with the Lord. I have known some believers who are on fire for the Lord one minute and as cold as a cucumber the next. This poor example and lack of spiritual steadfastness, makes witnessing difficult for faithful Christians. That is why it is many non-Christians spend years observing a believer’s steadfast living before they are willing to accept the gospel message.

Having spent many years in the criminal justice field as well as a military career, I have heard the disparaging comments from the world crowd. Believe me, they did not candy-coat their feelings! Hypocritical Christians were called names I will not repeat here.

Is your heart firmly fixed on God? If you desire to have a steadfast walk with the Lord, start right now by making a covenant to be faithful and true to Him in all that you do—then do it!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GRACE AND PEACE! – 2 Peter 1:2 Devotional

GRACE AND PEACE!

2 Peter 1:2 – Devotional

2 Peter 1:2

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

We constantly find ourselves in need of God’s grace and favor. In this verse we are assure that we have received an abundant measure of that glorious grace and peace.

It is important to realize that we do not receive that grace and peace as the result of our good deeds and sterling character. It is only through the shed blood of Jesus that was poured out in our behalf that we are abundantly blest!

In this time of year when life becomes even more hectic and demanding than normal, it is important for us to make time to be alone with God. We need to worship Him for the grace and peace that He abundantly bestows.

I challenge each of us to make a commitment to make grace and peace a high priority on our list of activities for this precious time of year. The Lord is always pleased when we make Him our highest priority. What is number one on your list?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
