HAVE MERCY ON ME!

Luke 18:35-43 – Devotional

Luke 18: 35-43

As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”

He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”

“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.

Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

PASS ME NOT – lyrics by Fanny Crosby, tune by William H. Doane

Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Let me at a throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Trusting only in Thy merit,
Would I seek Thy face;
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me,
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heav’n but Thee?

Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

FULLY MATURE IN CHRIST! – Colossians 1:28 Devotional

FULLY MATURE IN CHRIST!

Colossians 1:28 – Devotional

Colossians 1:28

“He is the One we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, in order that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.

Over the years of my ministry I have been blessed to observe the spiritual birth and subsequent growth of new believers. At the beginning they may be seem to be very immature and weak, but as they grow in the Lord they become strong and worthy servants of the Most High God!

I want to ask a very personal and yet a very vital question of you: How would you describe your maturity level in Christ? Are you increasingly growing stronger in the faith by your time spent in His Word? Do you make it a necessary part of each day to search the Scriptures?

I once had a man tell me that he had read the Bible through from the first verse in Genesis to the last verse in Revelation, so he didn’t need to read it any more. Fully mature believers never stop growing God’s grace and the knowledge of His precious Word.

It is essential that we devote ourselves to read and re-read God’s precious Word. No matter how many times I have read through the Bible, I find something new and fresh every day. My aim is to urge everyone to become fully mature in Christ.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

BE A RADIANT BELIEVER! – Psalm 32:11 Devotional

BE A RADIANT BELIEVER!

Psalm 32:11 – Devotional

Psalm 32:11

“Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

It seems that many believers seem to be “secret service agents.” By that I mean that they may have received Christ as their Savior, but they want to keep it quiet so they will not be ridiculed for their faith.

The Church of Jesus Christ has always been strongest when it goes through the flames of adversity. It is not that believers seek to be persecuted, but when their light of Christ illuminates the darkness, it reveals the darkness of sin around them.

The next time you look in the mirror; (I hope you will not be too shocked!) ask yourself this question: Does this face reflect the glorious truth that Jesus loves each one of us enough to come into the world and die for us?

If Jesus loves us so much that He would die for us, is it not reasonable that we should devote ourselves to live for Him? Of course it is! Make it your aim this day to let your life be filled with the joy of the Lord! You may be aware of this fact in your heart, but let your face know about it!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

TRUE VALUE! – Luke 12:6-7 Devotional

TRUE VALUE!

Luke 12:6-7 – Devotional

Luke 12:6-7

“Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Whenever I read today’s Scripture, I have to ask if the hairs of our head are numbered before or after we lose most of them? That is meant to be humorous, but I know that the words are intended to show just how intimately the Lord knows us.

I love birds and enjoy a varied collection of birds that visit the feeders I have for them outside my window. Some of these precious creatures have become accustomed to me and stay close when I fill their feeding stations.

It always bothers me when I hear Christians speak as if the Lord was not aware of the details of their lives. Perhaps our problem is that we lack a proper understanding of God’s Word. From Genesis to Revelation we read of God’s intimate knowledge of us and our surroundings. In Psalm 139 we read: “You are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue You know it completely, O LORD.”

The next time you are tempted to feel alone and abandoned by the Lord, start looking around for the nearest sparrow (or any other bird). The Lord knows that bird by name and cares for it. If He does that, be assured that He will also take care of you.

Blessings dear hearts. May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

THE RIGHT CHOICE! – Deuteronomy 30:19 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

THE RIGHT CHOICE!

Deuteronomy 30:19 – Devotional

Deuteronomy 30:19

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

Moses was in the midst of his “upper desert discourse”—the book of Deuteronomy. He was recounting to the people of all that the Lord had done for them in the days of aimless wandering for the past 40 years.

Think of all of the miracles that the people witnessed in their deliverance from Egypt. You wonder how they could ever turn their back on God. One of the great miracles that we often overlook is the condition of their attire. After forty years walking in the desert sand, neither their sandals nor their clothing had worn out. How long does the life stay in your clothing and shoes?!

Moses challenges the people to accept the life and blessings that the Lord offers. It was a choice that they needed to make—God’s way or the way of death. It seems impossible that they would choose the way that leads to death, but they did.

We are offered the same option. In Christ we have life and blessings. But there are so many who refuse to go God’s way and instead continue along the path that leads to death. I urge you, therefore—choose life!

Blessings dear hearts. May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
