THE LORD IS IN CONTROL!

Proverbs 16:1-3 –  Devotional

Proverbs 16:1-3

“The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits. Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.”

DOES JESUS CARE? – 1 Peter 5:6-7 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

DOES JESUS CARE?

1 Peter 5:6-7 – Devotional

1 Peter 5:6-7

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

There have been times in my life when I felt isolated and alone. When I experienced these times of spiritual drought I was prone to wonder if Jesus really cared. Even though I am usually happy and optimistic, I have felt the enemy of my soul attack. It is during these times that I rush to God’s Word for comfort.

Frank E. Graeff was known as the “sunshine minister.” He had a cheery disposition, a winsome personality, spiritual optimist, and was a great friend of children. He was known to have a child-like faith. That being said, he did pass through times of deep trials. It was then that he turned to the Scriptures as his guide in the darkness.

As I read the words of this hymn that he wrote, I can see the change from gloom and despair to hope and victory. That is what I want in my life.

DOES JESUS CARE?

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained; Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress, And the way grows weary and long?

Refrain: Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark; with a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades, does He care enough to be near?

Refrain: Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed, to resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief, though my tears flow all the night long?

Refrain: Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye” to the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks—is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Refrain: Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

OUR GRACIOUS LORD! – Psalm 89:14 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

OUR GRACIOUS LORD!

Psalm 89:14 – Devotional

Psalm 89:14

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Loving kindness and truth go before your face.

Perhaps you have heard the story of a young girl who was totally absorbed in drawing a picture. All of the other students had finished their art work, but she was still working feverishly at her picture.

When her teacher asked what she was drawing, she said she was drawing a picture of God. Taken aback, her teacher told her it was impossible to draw a picture of God since no one knew what He looked like. The small child looked confidently at her teacher and replied; “They will when I am finished!”

Wow! What confidence! In reality, she was very close to the truth. We live out the picture of God by the manner in which we live our life. In fact our actions show forth the reality of God in our life.

The question that we must always carry with us is just how well we represent the reality of our living Lord to a sin-sick, lost and dying world. Is the picture of the Lord that we are living out one that will draw people to know Him?

I may fail at many things, but above all else, I want my life to radiate with the glorious essence of Jesus living and active in my soul!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

LOOKING BEYOND! – Psalm 8:4 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

LOOKING BEYOND!

Psalm 8:4 – Devotional

Psalm 8:4

“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?

I enjoy searching the heavens and contemplating what it will be like when all believers will be given glorified bodies and allowed to soar through the heavens and explore worlds beyond our own. What an experience that will be!

As many of you know, I have had the experience of officiating at the funeral services of my mother, my brother, my two daughters, as well as numerous friends. I have also felt the terrible loss of my precious wife who was a very part of my life.

No amount of wishful thinking will ever return our loved ones to us on this earth, but a proper acceptance that God has welcomed them into His presence. Dealing with broken-heartedness entails re-directing the focus of our attention to the glorious reunion day that awaits us in glory.

John assures us one result of our belief in God is that our thinking is different from those who have no hope. Until that day we can have the beautiful assurance that there is a great reunion day waiting for us!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

A NEW PEOPLE! – Psalm 51:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

A NEW PEOPLE!

Psalm 51:10 – Devotional

Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

It is quite depressing to wake up each morning and be struck with the reality that we live in the midst of a sinful and unrighteous day and age. The writer of Proverbs states without equivocation that a nation is exalted when it is characterized by righteousness. That virtue is hardly to be found these days!

The writer also states that sin is a reproach to any people. The word reproach as used in this verse in the Hebrew word chesed, which in this context means a wicked thing. That is certainly an apt description of the effect sin has on our society.

What should be our response to the sinful condition of our world? We find the answer in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Many revivals in the past have been started by a few believers who were willing to humble themselves and pray until they touched the hem of His garment. It is time to evaluate our commitment to obey God.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
