LET GOD’S GLORY SHINE!

Psalm 57:5 – Devotional

Psalm 57:5

“Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! Let Your glory shine over the entire earth.

As we read through the Book of Psalms, It seems like many of them are written from the depth of trial and turmoil. I never cease to be struck by the gut wrenching honesty of expressing every type of human emotion.

The comfort I find as I read the Book of Psalms is that every trial I have encountered, or ever will encounter, has been encountered by the Psalmist and many times during the most terrifying situations.

I have come to spend much of my Bible reading in the Book of Psalms. At the bedside of someone nearing the end of their life, it brings comfort to know that the Shepherd who loving cares for them is the Good Shepherd who waits to welcome them to the place He has prepared for them.

Sometimes when I seem to have nothing more to give, I turn to the Book of Psalms and find that the Good Shepherd has directed my attention to just the comforting words that I need to perk up my spirits and get me back on my path to that home that He has prepared for me and all who have accepted Him as Savior and Lord!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

OUR WAY IS CLEAR! – 2 Corinthians 4:17 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

OUR WAY IS CLEAR!

2 Corinthians 4:17 – Devotional

2 Corinthians 4:17

“Our light affliction, which lasts for only a moment, works for us an exceedingly greater and eternal weight of glory.

Sometimes we struggle over the trials and tribulations of our life trying to make sense of why things happen the way they do. If God is great and mighty (and He is), why do we have to endure such tests to our faith? The answer is to be found in our restricted vision.

I recall once traveling by helicopter to a missile site in central Missouri. I had traveled the route many times by car and knew that there were steep and winding places that required slow travel, especially when being stuck behind a slow-moving truck. These dangerous spots were clearly marked with “No Passing” signs.

From our view from the helicopter, we could see clearly that there was no on-coming traffic and it was safe to pass. Since we could not do so, the driver had to wait until he could see the road for himself.

Paul expresses the concept of waiting patiently on the Lord in I Corinthians 13:12: “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.” Until that day, we trust in the Lord with all our heart and joyfully rest in Him.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

PRAISE HIM! PRAISE HIM! – Psalm 33:1-3 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

PRAISE HIM! PRAISE HIM!

Psalm 33:1-3 – Devotional

Psalm 33:1-3

“Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise Him. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.”

What a wonderful woman! She stood under five feet and weighed less than 100 pounds. Because of being maltreated for an eye infection when she was only a few months old, she spent the remainder of her 95 years totally blind.

Her name was Fanny J. Crosby. This tiny dynamo wrote over 8,000 poems and hymns during her lifetime. She composed her poems and hymns entirely in her mind and then dictated them to a stenographer. She was said to be able to work on as many as twelve hymns at once before dictating them all out.

Fanny felt that it was a special gift from God that she should be blind all of her life, and she thanked Him for that gift. She felt that when she arrived in heaven, the first face she desired to gladden her sight would be her precious Savior. It was in 1896 that she wrote the hymn selected for this week.

. . . . . . . .

PRAISE HIM! PRAISE HIM!

1. Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer! Sing O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim! Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory; strength and honor give to His holy name! Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children. In His arms He carries them all day long:

Refrain: Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness; Praise Him! Praise Him, ever in joyful song!

2. Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer! For our sins He suffered and bled and died; He our Rock, our hope of eternal salvation; Hail Him! Hail Him! Jesus the Crucified. Sound His praises! Jesus who bore our sorrows, love unbounded, wonderful deep and strong:

Refrain: Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness; praise Him! Praise Him, ever in joyful song!

3. Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus our blessed Redeemer! Heavenly portals loud with hosannas ring! Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever; Crown Him! Crown Him! Prophet and Priest and King! Christ is coming! Over the world victorious, power and glory unto the Lord belong.

Refrain: Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness; praise Him! Praise Him, ever in joyful song!
