WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN!

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 – Devotional

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

“After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.”

Though an invalid for much of her life, Eliza Edmunds Hewitt was always active and enjoyed a long personal friendship with Fanny Crosby. These two women met often for fellowship and discussion of their new hymns. Eliza was a school teacher in Philadelphia and a Christian lay worker who was committed to write songs to teach children the basic truths of the gospel. This song was written for her own Sunday school class in Philadelphia.

Miss Hewitt often attended the Methodist camp meetings at Ocean Grove, New Jersey. It was here that she collaborated with Emily Wilson, the wife of a Methodist district superintendent in Philadelphia, in the writing of this triumphant gospel hymn–a favorite of young and old alike. “When We All Get to Heaven” was first published in 1898.

WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN

1. Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place.

Refrain: When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

2. While we walk the pilgrim pathway, Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Refrain: When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

3. Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory will the toils of life repay.

Refrain: When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

4. Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open; We shall tread the streets of gold.

Refrain: When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We’ll sing and shout the victory!

A GLIMPSE OF GLORY! – Psalm 27:5 Devotional

A GLIMPSE OF GLORY!

Psalm 27:5 – Devotional

Psalm 27:5

“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock.”

Just because we are promised that God will protect us does not mean that we are not going to pass through times of pain and suffering. It has always been true that the times of our most effective witness for the Lord is when we are suffering the most.

Please keep in mind the reality that while God never promises to remove us from the times of pain and suffering, He does promise to be with us in the midst of our pain and suffering!

I frequently bring to mind the stoning of Stephen. God was certainly able to remove Stephen from the pain of his suffering, but without it we no doubt would never hear his glorious testimony.

God gave Stephen a glimpse of glory in the midst of his stoning. I am sure he would tell us that the stones that took his life were of little significance when the Lord parted the curtains of heaven to give him a glimpse of glory. I pray that the Lord will give each of us a glimpse of glory this day!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

WALK – RUN – FLY! – Isaiah 40:31 Devotional

WALK – RUN – FLY!

Isaiah 40:31 – Devotional

Isaiah 40:31

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Some dear friends and former members of our congregation were in service yesterday. Several years ago they moved to the State of Florida, which is on the opposite side of the United States.

They travelled by car to arrive here, which was only one mode of transportation they could have chosen. The fastest and perhaps the least taxing on the body would be to fly, but it would prevent them from visiting friends along the way.

In this life we are presented with many choices. None of the choices we choose should be made without spending time with the Lord to seek His will for our daily walk. It is a sad thing for people to live an indifferent life toward God and call out to Him only when in trouble.

God is always there to hear us! If we do not feel His presence it is not because He is far from us, but because we have chosen to distance ourselves from Him. Fly quickly into His arms and allow Him to carry you on your journey!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk-Run-Fly with God today and be a blessing.
