BE LIKE THE LORD!

Mark 9:35b – Devotional

Mark 9:35b

“- – anyone desires to be first, must yield their position and not only be last, but also become the servant of everyone.”

From time to time I have heard people express the desire to be more like the Lord. All too often these individuals seem to make every effort to trumpet their own accomplishments.

When our kids were young they often would bring a drawing they had made or some object they had put together. In the sight of others it might be worthless, but to Joyce and I as parents, those objects were priceless!

Many of us have encountered people who have attempted to trumpet their own accomplishments, even at the expense of demeaning the efforts of others. It is heartbreaking to watch as people belittle the efforts of others. It is like snuffing out the flame of creativity in someone’s life.

Jesus saw the value in the most humble follower. He never chose those who felt they were better than others, but selected those who would keep their eyes on Him and allow Him to be the pattern for their life. In what way are you striving to BE LIKE THE LORD?
