ALWAYS DO HIS WILL! – Matthew 12:50 Devotional

ALWAYS DO HIS WILL!

Matthew 12:50 – Devotional

Matthew 12:50

“For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”

I once observed a battle being waged between a mother and her daughter who was about two years old. We used to call them the terrible twos! The little girl stubbornly sat down and refused to walk. The stand-off occurred in a public place which made it embarrassing for her mother.

The frustrated mother walked about fifteen feet away from her daughter and waited for her to come. The girl threw a fit, but she would only walk one or two steps before sitting down once more.

It was more than five or ten minutes before the little one finally gave in and came to her mother. By that time she was bawling her eyes out and both she and her mother were miserable.

As I have relived that scene, I could see the face of God watching us as we fought for our own will instead of yielding to His will. Just as that little girl could not care for herself, so we are not able to adequately know what lies ahead for us. By yielding our will to His will, we allow the Lord to care for us.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

JESUS PAID IT ALL! – Titus 3:4-5 Devotional

JESUS PAID IT ALL!

Titus 3:4-5 – Devotional

Titus 3:4-5

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”

One night in 1886, a group of Christians were singing in a down-and-out part of a large city. A distraught young woman questioned if it would be possible for a sinner like her to be saved. Listening to her heart-cry for salvation, she was taken back to the mission and left with the ladies in charge. The young, wayward woman was brought to Christ that night.

A situation was secured for her in a minister’s family. However, sometime later she became ill and had to be taken to a hospital. She rapidly failed and it became evident that she would not be long on this earth. One of the gentlemen, whom she had met on that night on the street, was visiting her in the ward. After quoting a few suitable verses of Scripture, he repeated her favorite hymn, “All to Christ I Owe” also known as “Jesus Paid it All.” Two hours afterward she passed away.

Of course the greatest payment in our behalf is the gift of eternal life. It cost the horrible death of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He paid what we could not pay. He went to the cross voluntarily because He knew we would never be able to pay the cost.

Jesus Paid It All

I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small!
Child of weakness watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I,
whereby Thy grace to claim
I will wash my garments white,
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow.

And when before the throne,
I stand in Him complete,
I’ll lay my trophies down,
All down at Jesus’ feet.

Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain
He washed it white as snow.

WE CAN KNOW! – Luke 12:56 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

WE CAN KNOW!

Luke 12:56 – Devotional

Luke 12:56

“You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don’t know how to interpret this present time?”

Meteorologists are sometimes able to predict the path of storms long before they actually arrive. Teams of experts study data collected from a multitude of sources in order to predict potential threats of violent weather such as hurricanes and tornadoes. This information can be used to help those in the path of storms to take shelter and minimize risk.

Jesus seemed to have something like this in mind when He spoke about people knowing how to predict weather patterns, but failing to understand what is happening in fulfillment of the prophecy given in God’s Word.

In Matthew 24, Jesus gives us over twenty signs that mark His second coming. If we go and read that chapter we will find a description of what is happening in our world at the present time.

So what does this mean to us? It means that there is a lost and dying world around us facing an eternity in hell unless they repent and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Let us be faithful to rescue as many as possible.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
