Psalm 60:4 – Devotional

Psalm 60:4

“Fear not for I am with you; do not be depressed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, help you and uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

At the beginning of the Olympic Games there is the parade of nations. A flag identifies a nation and each nation proudly follows the flag bearer who holds high the symbol of that nation.

One of the iconic images from WWII was the placing of the flag on Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima, on February 23, 1945, by six US Marines. Days after the raising of the flag, three of the six were killed in combat.

Jesus left us the task of reaching the world and making disciples of all nations. His flag over us propels us to give our all for His great cause. Some have paid with their life in order to rally around the flag of Christ.

Let me close today with the pledge to the Christian Flag: “I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands; one Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and liberty for all who believe.”

FINDING JOY IN LIFE!​​

Psalm 118:24 – Devotional

Psalm 118:24

“This is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice and find joy in it.”

I recall my spiritual father, Doctor John Hall, relate a conversation he had with one of his patients. He asked Minnie how she was doing, she replied; “Pretty good, under the circumstances, but life is just so daily!”

I fear that many of us spend more of our time living under the circumstances of life rather than finding God’s eternal joy for us as we soar above the circumstances that we find confronting us each day. We may be surviving, but the Lord wants us to be thriving as we live for Him!

As in every situation that confronts us as we wake each day, we need to find the source of Joy in the Lord. We do that by reading and meditating on the Word of God. It is tragic how many people claim to hear from God, yet they are quick to confess that they seldom read the Bible. Beep!!! Wrong answer!

To find lasting joy in your life, make a covenant with the Lord that you will spend a certain amount of time in His Word each and every day. You may start with a few minutes daily, but I hope it will soon become hours! You will discover you have found true joy in your life!

MY PROMISE TO PRAISE!​​

Psalm 146:2 – Devotional

Psalm 146:2

“I will praise the Lord as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.”

Have you ever heard a believer promise the Lord that they will praise His Name forever and ever, then start complaining about all the ills they are suffering? If you haven’t, unfortunately, I have!

As God’s redeemed people we should be the happiest people in the world! Even when our health, wealth, and influence, dissipates, we should be the happiest and the first to lift our voices of praise to the Lord.

I have heard far too many believers moan and complain about what they are going through, when compared to many others they have it pretty good. We need not go far from our front door to discover a world of suffering and pain.

Sin is a terrible task-master and the wages of sin result in suffering. The suffering of this world is nothing compared to the suffering that awaits those who do not open their hearts to receive Jesus as their personal Savior. Our praises to the Lord will be our most effective witness for Him. Promise to praise the Lord for everything and then begin fulfilling your promise today!

GOD SEES AND HEARS!

Psalm 34:15 – Devotional

Psalm 34:15

“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.”

If you ever feel that you are all alone and there is not a single soul that knows what you are experiencing, just keep today’s Scripture posted where you can assure yourself that God knows and cares about you.

Satan will always try his best to confuse, confound and condemn, but thank the Lord that we have a Savior who has been where we are and has overcome the enemy of our souls.

When you feel the crush of life, remember that God has loved you since the creation of the world and it is His desire that you receive His gift of eternal life. The God who created all things has given us the greatest gift that could ever be given.

Just remember that the gift has been freely offered, but it must be received and be opened to enjoy forever and forever. God sees us at the point of our greatest need and supplies freely from the storehouse of His grace and mercy!

Blessings dear hearts! God is with us today in order for us to be a blessing!

WE SERVE AN AWESOME GOD!​​

Psalm 47:2 – Devotional

Psalm 47:2

“The Lord Most High is awesome! He is the Great King over all the earth.”

I try to recall the words of this chorus we used to sing when I was a teen. Believe me that was long ago! “Our God is an awesome God! He reigns from heaven above, with wisdom power and love! Our God is an awesome God.”

That may be long ago in my calculation of time, but in God’s reckoning, it is just a blink of the eye. All too we often use our own measurement of time or actions instead of striving to see our world as God sees it. I know we fall far short of seeing things God’s way, but God knows our heart and our desire to find His will.

At this season of the year, spend time alone with God in prayer and meditation on His Word. Ask God to reveal to you just a glimpse of His awesome glory. We are told that God inhabits the praise of His people. Stop and praise Him right now!

I stand in amazement when I consider that the God of the universe loves us so much that he came as a helpless baby in a rustic manger and died on a rustic and cruel cross. The depth of His love is beyond our ability to comprehend. One thing that we can always be sure of: WE SERVE AN AWESOME GOD!

GROWING A CROP OF JOY!

Psalm 126:5 – Devotional

Psalm 126:5

“Sowing in tears will produce a harvest of joy.”

What we sow will determine what will be produced. Bitterness grows from seeds of selfish ambition and hopelessness is the fruit of sensual living. It is vital for us to examine what seeds we are sowing and what crop awaits us!

Across over sixty years of ministry I have sadly listened to the cries of those who planted seeds of sensuality and now were reaping the crop of doom and despair.

The bright light at the end of the tunnel for those who have sinned and fallen short of God’s will for them is that God is always ready to welcome home His prodigal children who have found themselves in the mire of sin and despair.

I am so glad that Jesus came to rescue fallen sinners, not sanctimonious and self righteous saints. Only repentant sinners are welcome home by a waiting Father. If you have been planting seeds of sin and shame stop it! Reach into your seed bag of seeds and plant a crop of sorrow for your sins and you will reap a crop of joy!
