WALK-RUN-FLY!

Isaiah 40:31 – Devotional

Isaiah 40:31

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Some dear friends and former members of our congregation were in service yesterday. Several years ago they moved to the State of Florida, which is on the opposite side of the United States.

They travelled by car to arrive here, which was only one mode of transportation they could have chosen. The fastest and perhaps the least taxing on the body would be to fly, but it would prevent them from visiting friends along the way.

In this life we are presented with many choices. None of the choices we choose should be made without spending time with the Lord to seek His will for our daily walk. It is a sad thing for people to live an indifferent life toward God and call out to Him only when in trouble.

God is always there to hear us! If we do not feel His presence it is not because He is far from us, but because we have chosen to distance ourselves from Him. Fly quickly into His arms and allow Him to carry you on your journey!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk-Run-Fly with God today and be a blessing.

WHAT GOD REQUIRES!

Micah 6:8 – Devotional

Micah 6:8

“He has shown you, what is good; and what the LORD requires of you, just to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

Over the years I have counseled scores of individuals and preached to many and assorted congregations. Yet I always fear that many who may be listening are not really hearing. The words go out but all too often they are filtered through ears that are tuned to hear only what they want to hear.

I have to be honest and confess that this used to concern me. I felt it was my responsibility for the hearers to grasp what I was saying. This erroneous attitude left me weary and worn. Sadly, there have been many who refused to heed my words, and the Holy Spirit’s appeal.

Through Bible study and prayer I have come to realize that my responsibility is to share the truth the Lord reveals to me, in the simplest manner possible, and then leave the results up to Him.

What is God lying upon your heart to do for Him? Rather than try to get away from the Lord’s call, spend time in prayer and Bible study. Allow the Lord to lead and guide you to a fulfilling life of service for Him!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

GOD’S REQUIREMENTS! – Micah 6:8 Devotional

Micah 6:8

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

Some of life’s truths come very naturally to us, but others are harder to learn.  Years ago when I was a police officer, there was a sergeant who was extremely cynical.  He would stride into the police department with his pipe clenched tightly between his teeth, shaking his head and declaring, “The more I see of people, the more I think sheep are smart animals!”  I think sometimes he was right.

It grieves me that we have entire churches filled with believers who have not grown one bit spiritually since they experienced New Birth.  They may come, sing, pray, smile, appear contented, but then go out to live pretty much the same way they did before their new birth. God has given us His Word to guide us and prepare us for not only this life, but for the life to come.

Micah  6:8 gives us three of God’s requirements for believers. Do justly:  Do what is right and just, even when others are out for their own thing. Love mercy: Love the world (others) with the mercy that Christ has shown to you. Walk humbly: God hates pride and self-sufficiency — in all your ways acknowledge Him.

How would you rate yourself in response to what God requires of His disciples? Where are we falling short and what steps of action should we take?

Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today, trust Him completely and be a blessing!
