HEAR HIS VOICE!

John 10:27 – Devotional

John 10:27

“My sheep know My voice, and I know them, and they respond to Me.”

As a boy I used to spend most of my waking hours playing outdoors. That was long before the days of television, computers, and various instruments that intrude on the delight of being in the great outdoors!

There always seemed to be several kids of various ages that played together. Each of us could recognize the voice of our mother when we were called to come inside. Did we respond immediately? Are you kidding?! It was only after repeated calls, and a few threats of a punishment, that we reluctantly obeyed.

I look forward to hearing the voice of my mother once again. But even more so do I eagerly long for the voice of my beloved Savior that I have known for over eighty years. Sadly, I have not always responded to His voice as quickly as I should, but I have known since I accepted Him into my heart that I am His child!

If you have never entered into that eternal relationship with Jesus by being born again, I implore you to simply invite Him to be your Savior. He knows your heart and has died for you to become one of His kids! Do you hear His voice?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SEED TIME AND HARVEST! – John 12:24-25 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

SEED TIME AND HARVEST!

John 12:24-25 – Devotional

John 12:24-25

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”

I am not much of a farmer or even a gardener. But even with my limited knowledge, I have been aware of one thing: God has established a principle that has remained consistent across the ages of time that in order to have a harvest, there must be a seed time.

Grains of wheat found in dark and dry Egyptian tombs had remained as individual seeds for centuries. When these grains were test planted to see what would happen .. . . they died! That is, they stopped being dry and dormant seeds. But in death the seeds produced shoots that broke the ground, and after a time, a head appeared. Theses once-individual grains reproduced. A seed had to go into the ground and die before it could produce a crop.

My grandparents were wheat farmers on the Oklahoma Panhandle. It was always a delight to travel from our home in the Pacific Northwest to visit and experience the excitement of harvest time. They grew winter wheat which was planted in the fall and harvested in the heat of summer.

I think it is safe to say that seeds are always planted in a different season than when they are harvested. Spiritually we are called to die to ourselves in order to allow a harvest in the future. Are you dying to self that others may find life? Are you planting what others will reap or are you reaping what others have planted? We are all intended to be fruitful servants of the Lord.

Blessings dear hearts. Walk with God today and be a blessing!

THE BREAD OF LIFE! – John 6:47-48 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

THE BREAD OF LIFE!

John 6:47-48 – Devotional

John 6:47-48

“Without question, I tell you: anyone who truly believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life.”

All around us are people who are seeking answers. So-called psychics claim to have all the answers, yet when push comes to shove, they are never able to save others or even themselves.

For those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we may have the same problems and challenges as the unbelievers, but our hope is not in what benefit we receive here on earth (and there are many benefits), but our great reward is waiting for us in glory.

Christ’s faithful followers look beyond the travails of this life and see the reward that Christ has provided for those who place their trust in Him. In John 14, Christ assures us that He is preparing an eternal home designed for us in glory.

My hope is not so much to reside in the spectacular home he has prepared for me, but to spend eternity with the Savior who loved a sinner like me. I want to praise and glorify Him forever and ever!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

LIVE WITH A GLOW! – John 16:33b Devotional

LIVE WITH A GLOW!

John 16:33b – Devotional

John 16:33b

“In this world you will have to endure tribulation, but be filled with pure joy, for I have overcome the world.”

From time to time I have encountered people that are sour-faced and see only doom and gloom. They see trials and troubles in even the most glorious of times. I have to confess that I usually try to insure that I have something to attend to that will give me an excuse to get away from them and spend time with the Lord.

Now that I have confessed one of my short-comings, let me share that there are other people who I find great delight in spending quality time with. These are people who keep their eyes on the Lord and in His precious Word!

The reality is that we are one or the other of those qualities to those we encounter in our daily activities. It causes me to ask myself the question; “Is my life projecting a growl or a glow?

There is no question about the fact that we will all face adversity in this world. Jesus shares this reality in today’s Scripture. But with the reality that we will all face trials, He will be with us and that is enough to give us a glow!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
