CHOOSE JOY! – Isaiah 66:10 Devotional

CHOOSE JOY!

Isaiah 66:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 66:10

“Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you who love her. Rejoice for joy with her all you who mourn for her.

I would like to share an important secret with you: JOY IS A CHOICE! But some people seem to think that one is joyful by nature. In other words, we are born with either a ray of sunlight over our head or a thundercloud.

It is also thought that the circumstances of life determine joy or sorrow. As we read the words of today’s Scripture, we quickly notice that it is directed to those who grieve in Zion.

Think of that! For those who are experiencing grief, the Lord promises the oil of joy. Not only that, He provides a garment of praise in place of a spirit of despair. I think that James 1:2 expresses this thought: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.”

What are you experiencing in your life at this moment? It really does not matter what the circumstances are, but it does matter whether you are appropriating the joy of the Lord in order to display His splendor.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

AVAILABLE TO GOD! – Isaiah 40:31 Devotional

AVAILABLE TO GOD!

Isaiah 40:31 – Devotional

Isaiah 40:31

“Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall soar on wings as eagles, shall run and not grow weary, shall walk and not faint.

The longer I live the more I realize I know so very little. But then it’s really not essential that I know everything. I feel like the old pastor who slowly walked to the pulpit. The congregation eagerly awaited the message that this precious saint of God would deliver. You may recall the words that he simply said: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

I’m so appreciative of having a Kindle reader so I can read book after book without carrying an entire armload. I recall reading a book by Jerry Bridges titled, “Trusting God: Even When Life Hurts.” Even the title moves me.

His words gave me a new appreciation of the sovereignty of God. God is not incumbent to make me comfortable or painless. In fact, it is not about me at all. If it is pain, so be it! If it is suffering, so be it! If it is complete healing, so be it!

During a hospital stay, God was able to use me to bring a little bit of healing to the nurses and staff who treated me. That was my ministry for this particular situation and I thank God for it. I rejoice being home, but I want to be available for God to be sovereign in my life wherever that may be.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FROM VICTORY TO VICTORY! – Isaiah 41:10 Devotional

FROM VICTORY TO VICTORY!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

In case you need to be reminded, we are the winners! When we received Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, we not only passed from death to life, but we also passed from defeat to eternal victory!

As someone once said, “That’s worth a little AMEN, in anybody’s language! As born again believers we need to be known for our radiant victory in Jesus. Those in the world are exposed to cynicism and negativity on every hand. They need to see a radiant difference in the way Christians live their life.

Here is the vital question each of us need to answer; “Does the world see a difference in the way we live from those who are not believers?” Pause and reflect on that for a moment.

If the Lord is our strength (He is), and our eternity is assured (it is), are we living on the victory side of the street? Spend quality time in God’s Word, get a smile on your face and move from victory to victory!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

BE CONFIDENT! – Isaiah 41:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

BE CONFIDENT!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not for I am with you. Don’t be depressed I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you and hold you up with My righteous right hand.

One summer when I was a young boy, I was challenged to memorize key verses in Scripture. One of those verses was Isaiah 41:10. I cannot begin to tell you how many times across the years this verse has been with me.

In today’s world of Global Positioning System technology, there is a voice that gives instructions of where to turn and how far to go before giving the next instruction of where to turn and how far to go. I have known drivers that turn their GPS off just to silence that voice.

I come from a day and age where we learned to read maps. When I worked as a milk man it was necessary to use a code to tell how many intersections to cross, when to turn left or right and which house was to receive the home delivery (I am a very old man!).

God gives us assurance that His voice will always strengthen, help, and uphold us as we obediently follow His word and His way. All we need to do IS TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! Do not silence His voice.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FAITH WALKING! – Isaiah 41:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

FAITH WALKING!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, I am with you, and do not be depressed, I am your God. I will give you strength, help you and hold up with My righteous right hand.

I know I have used this verse before. Not only that, I will use it again and again! As a matter of fact, it was one of the first verses I ever memorized when I was a small boy in Camas, Washington.

I am always reminded of the story of an older gentleman who called his wife such endearing names that it was very noticeable — “Honey,” “Sweetie,” “Dearie,” “Love,” and such like. A friend remarked about it and complimented the older man on the sweet names he called his wife. The old gentleman replied, “I have to. I haven’t been able to remember her name for ten years.”

Jesus, in His earthly ministry, spoke often of the “Kingdom of Heaven.” In His parables He would typically begin: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like …..” As we think of God’s wonderful Kingdom, there are two elements: The here and now, and the future glory awaiting us.

We have both a present reality and a brilliant future hope. Our challenge and purpose should always be to walk by faith in God and live according to His word. That my precious friend is – – FAITH WALKING! Try it!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
