THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES! – Isaiah 42:8 Devotional

THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES!

Isaiah 42:8 – Devotional

Isaiah 42:8

“I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.”

I have had the precious honor to spend the last brief moments of this life, with some of God’s children. It is always a sacred moment that is filled with the glory that is beyond the things of this world.

In those sacred moments I have always felt a new sense of alienation from the things of this world and an attraction to the wonderful eternity that awaits those of us who have received eternal life at the moment we were born again.

It reminds me of the old saying; “If you have only been born once you have to die twice; but if you have been born twice, you only have to die once!” I think that is why God’s children can have victory even when facing critical situations.

When we call upon the Name that is above all names, we can have a calm and peace that transcends the glitz and glamour this phony world can ever offer. It reminds me once again that this world is not my home, I am just passing through! I hope that is true for you as well. If not, invite Jesus into you life!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SOARING WITH GOD! – Isaiah 40:31 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

SOARING WITH GOD!

Isaiah 40:31 – Devotional

Isaiah 40:31

“Those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, walk and not faint.”

Each time I glance up at the wall above my desk I read the words of today’s Scripture. It is done in counted cross stitch, and has a very special place in my heart. You see, it was presented to me by our daughter, Brenda, back in 1991, just before she went to be with the Lord.

This fantastic verse reminds us of one of God’s most precious promises: When we wait on the Lord, He will renew our strength. We get into trouble when we attempt to produce our own strength instead of waiting for His strength.

It is worth noting that anytime people run ahead of God and rely upon their own strength, they get into trouble. On the other hand, when people inquire of the Lord and wait for Him to lead, they are rewarded with His power.

It is vital for us to spend our time in fellowship with the Lord. Reading His Word, speaking with Him in prayer and listening patiently for His still small voice to guide us. Not running ahead of Him or lagging behind Him, but patiently walking close at His side.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GROWING WITH JESUS! – Isaiah 46:4 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GROWING WITH JESUS!

Isaiah 46:4 – Devotional

Isaiah 46:4

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

I once read an article in the newspaper that mentioned something about an elderly man. As I scanned down through the article, I was shocked to read that the man was two years younger than I am. If he was categorized as an elderly man, what does that make me? I guess the answer is in the eyes of the beholder!

My mom used to have a rental property behind her house. A widower lived there and she always referred to him as the old man. One day I challenged her by reminding her that he was three years younger than she was. (That did not go over well with my mom!)

Sometimes I observe people who may be about 35, and wonder, at what point are they no longer considered young people? That is a tough question. It is a fact that many in our modern culture seem to worship the concept of youth.

Can I let you in on a little secret? It is okay to allow yourself to mature (grow old). In Scripture many people were the greatest blessing in their latter years. I have come to the conclusion that age is not a determiner. Regardless of our age we need to put our shoulder to the wheel and grow more like Jesus each and every day.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

THE RIGHT WAY! – Isaiah 26:7 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

THE RIGHT WAY!

Isaiah 26:7 – Devotional

Isaiah 26:7

“The way of the just is uprightness. O Lord; You lead the way of the just.”

Sometimes we become discouraged by all of the sin and corruption that we see around us. It is easy to fall into the trap of judging others by their actions while ignoring our own behavior.

Being upright in the sight of God is not being satisfied with our behavior. We all have sinned and fail to meet God’s standards of righteousness. That may cause us to feel depressed until we read in God’s Word that Jesus took our sins to the cross with Him and when we confess our sins, they are immediately forgiven.

Since the Lord has so graciously granted us freedom from the penalty of our sins we need to respond to others in the same way. Just as Christ so freely has taken away our guilt and stain, we need to be people of forgiveness!

Do you show forgiveness to those who cut in front of you? Do you show your longsuffering by being ignored and rejected by friends or family? The right way for us to live is simply follow Jesus one step at a time! The way of the just!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
