WHAT GOD DESIRES!

Hosea 6:6 – Devotional

Hosea 6:6

“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Across the ages of time, people have attempted to gain favor with God by their own efforts. We know that is impossible, but still it is the way most humans deal with times of crisis.

Few people (certainly those who have not been saved) place their eternal trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Most of us have heard the term; foxhole salvation. It implies a commitment made during a critical moment that subsequently was forgotten.

According to today’s Scripture, God desires for His children to have mercy rather than giving money, and knowing God from a study of His Word more than the monetary offerings we give.

To boil it all down to the most practical level – – God desires for His born-again children to be like Him in being merciful to those in need and increasing in the knowledge of Him by spending time in His Word. As you evaluate your personal relationship with the Lord, are you doing what God desires? Again comes the challenge: IF NOT, WHY NOT! DO WHAT GOD DESIRES!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

WHAT GOD DESIRES!

Hosea 6:6 – Devotional

Hosea 6:6

“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice;
and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”

When I pause to consider the things that might please God, I fear that I am adversely influenced by what would please me. The only way to avoid that erroneous conclusion is to spend time in God’s precious Word and allow the Word to reveal what is pleasing in His sight.

I have discovered that what pleases God is for us to make every effort to be like Him as much as possible. I realize that is not possible, but at least it indicates to Him that we are making an effort.

So how do we go about finding what is pleasing to God? It is in spending time in our Bible. It has always caused me concern that believers fail to spend time in a study of the Bible. There are excuses galore for failing to read the Bible, but when we are honest with God our excuses are puny – at best!

God wants us and He wants all of us! We may feel that we have little to offer Him, but in the words of a song we used to sing, “Little is much when God is in it!” God wants us to spend time with Him – – let’s do it!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

WHAT GOD DESIRES!

Hosea 6:6 –  Devotional

Hosea 6:6

“For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”

Across the years I have endured the anguish of watching my children go through times of pain and suffering, knowing I could do nothing but watch, wait, and above all, pray. I have many times wished that I could take their place.

We serve a Blessed Savior who saw our terrible need and paid the terrible price with His own blood that we might be made whole. We must never forget the great love Jesus has for us that led Him to pay our price.

But just as Jesus gave so much for us, He desires that we show our response by doing for others just a fraction of what He did for us. That means showing mercy to others and striving to study His Word in order to discover His wonderful ways.

God desires mercy – – do we demonstrate mercy to those who need it but may not necessarily demonstrate that they deserve it? Do we spend time reading and meditating on the Word of God as the light in this dark world? It is what God desires!

Blessings dear hearts walk with God today and become a blessing!
