DAY BY DAY! – Deuteronomy 33:25 Devotional

DAY BY DAY!

Deuteronomy 33:25 – Devotional

Deuteronomy 33:25

“. . . as thy days, so shall thy strength be.”

DAY BY DAY — Lyrics by Lina Sandell

Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.

Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A DAY TO REMEMBER! – Deuteronomy 32:1-2 Devotional

A DAY TO REMEMBER!

Deuteronomy 32:1-2 – Devotional

Deuteronomy 32:1-2

“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew, as raindrops on the tender herb, and as showers on the grass.”

Stop for just a moment and remember the days which are now past. In one sense we can never re-live our yesterdays, but we can certainly learn from them. The date of May 26, 2025, is the day that has been chosen as Memorial Day here in the United States.

Having spent over twelve years in the military service, I know what it is like to lose comrades in arms. I vividly recall one Air Force pilot that was an instructor when I was in Officer Training School. He was enthusiastic and full of real life stories about his experiences in the cockpit of a jet aircraft. A few months after I had graduated, the word was received that he had been killed in combat.

This holiday has been established to honor the service men and women of all wars. It has been expanded as a time to remember all those loved ones who have died. As we drive through many cemeteries on this day, we see more flowers and flags than at any other time of year.

Memorial Day is a day to remember. It is a day of solemn contemplation about what has gone before us.

I like to think of the tremendous sacrifice Jesus made in order to give us salvation and a new birth. Some have called salvation a free gift from God. It is that indeed, but it cost Jesus His life. He died that we might have life abundant and free. As with any other gift, it must be received. It is not something we can earn. We either accept it or refuse it. There is no better day that we can appreciate God’s wonderful gift than on this day!

Blessings dear hearts. Draw near to God today, trust Him completely and be a blessing!

WAIT FOR GOD’S TIMING! – Deuteronomy 23:24 Devotional

WAIT FOR GOD’S TIMING!

Deuteronomy 23:24 – Devotional

Deuteronomy 23:24

When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, you may eat your fill of grapes at your pleasure, but you shall not put any in your container.

Years ago when my boyhood friend and I invaded our neighbor’s vineyard we had no idea there was Scripture that seemed to permit us to eat the grapes. All we knew was that there were Concord grapes that were begging for us to eat them. The problem was that we often picked them before they were ripe. The consequence was the green grapes made us sick.

Many times in our life we run ahead of God and try to pick spiritual “grapes” before they are ripe. God’s timing is always so much better than ours. He knows the heart of each individual.

One day I spoke with a widow in a cemetery who was sobbing pitifully. She shared with me that someone had stolen flowers from her husband’s grave and had also taken the grave marker. All I could do was listen to her and pray for her. We eventually were able to replace the grave marker.

God knows when the timing is right. We need to watch carefully for the season to progress and the fruit become ripe. We need to always be ready to glean in the Lord’s vineyard. He will bring the increase.

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

REMEMBER! – Deuteronomy 32:7 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

REMEMBER!

Deuteronomy 32:7 – Devotional

Deuteronomy 32:7

Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you.

Back in the 1950’s, Dinah Shore was a popular vocalist. One of her popular hits was the song, “You Forgot To Remember!” I can’t recall the words, but the title is easy to recall. It sounds like a contradiction, but it is all to true of many of us.

Promises are far easier to make than to fulfill. There have been several times in my life when those who I trusted broke promises that were made. The result caused pain and suffering for me personally, but also to my family.

I can honestly say that I have come to see that whether I have little of this world’s stuff or more than enough, it is not mine! It is only given to me to be used by the Lord for His purposes. In order to discover what His purposes are, I must spend time with the Lord by the study of His Word and prayer!

Remember that the Lord inhabits His Word and the praise of His people! It is far too easy to be blinded by the glitz and glamour of the world. Take time to search for the things of eternal value. Remember He first loved us! Return His love!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.
