WAITING FOR THE LORD! – Psalm 130:6 Devotional

WAITING FOR THE LORD!

Psalm 130:6 – Devotional

Psalm 130:6

“My soul waits for the Lord more than they who watch for the morning: I say, more than they who watch for the morning.

Those of us who have at one time or another, worked the night shift, know the joy of watching day break across the eastern horizon. The black of night gives way to the grey of dawn and finally the brightness of sunrise.

In like manner we discover this to be true in seeking after the truth in God’s Holy Word. Many times we discover truth that seems to leap off the pages of God’s precious Word and illuminates our heart!

I cannot fathom how God’s people can function as His faithful saints without seeking Him faithfully. It does not require great intellect, simply being faithful to wait on the Lord by reading His Word.

Are you waiting faithfully for the Lord? If not, begin today to spend more time in the precious Word that brings both light and life to a dark and sin filled world. His Word will brighten your life, as well as the life of those around you!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FULL CONFIDENCE! – 1 John 4:2 Devotional

FULL CONFIDENCE!

1 John 4:2 – Devotional

1 John 4:2

“Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.

From time to time we hear of believers who pay for their faith with their own blood. At times we may watch at the bedside of a believer who is about to draw their last breath, and hear a word of praise on their lips.

In the times that I have been given the privilege to be able to observe the home-going of a believer, I feel I am standing on holy ground. It always reminds me that this old sin-sick world is not our home, we are only passing through!

That is true for both believers and non-believers. The ultimate difference between the two is the final destination. We either have eternal bliss or eternal suffering in our future.

Our full confidence is in the promises of God that we can have complete assurance that those who accept Jesus as Savior and Lord have already died to self and are made alive forever more. That where we obtain FULL CONFIDENCE!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

A CHILD OF THE KING – 1 John 3:1 Devotional

A CHILD OF THE KING!

1 John 3:1 – Devotional

1 John 3:1

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”

Please enjoy scenes from Hawaii as you enjoy Linda Hightower’s musical rendition of A Child of the King, written by Harriet E. Buell.

A Child of the King

My Father is rich in houses and lands,
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,
His coffers are full, He has riches untold.

Refrain:
I’m a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior,
I’m a child of the King.

My Father’s own Son, the Savior of men,
Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them;
But now He is pleading our pardon on high,
That we may be His, when He comes by and by.

Refrain:
I’m a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior,
I’m a child of the King.

I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, an alien by birth,
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown.

Refrain:
I’m a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior,
I’m a child of the King.

A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
They’re building a palace for me over there;
Though exiled from home, yet still may I sing:
All glory to God, I’m a child of the King.

Refrain:
I’m a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior,
I’m a child of the King.

JESUS LOVES EVEN ME! – 1 John 4:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

JESUS LOVES EVEN ME!

1 John 4:10 – Devotional

1 John 4:10

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

When was the last time you contemplated the love God has for you? He loves each one of us so much He “sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

Philip P. Bliss does a good job of describing God’s love through Jesus for us in today’s hymn, Jesus Loves Even Me!  Here are the lyrics:

I am so glad that our Father in Heav’n
Tells of His love in the Book He has giv’n;
Wonderful things in the Bible I see,
This is the dearest, that Jesus loves me.

Refrain:
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me;
I am so glad that Jesus loves me,
Jesus loves even me.

If I forget Him and wander away,
Still He doth love me wherever I stray;
Back to His dear loving arms would I flee,
When I remember that Jesus loves me.

Oh, if there’s only one song I can sing,
When in His beauty I see the great King,
This shall my song through eternity be,
“Oh, what a wonder that Jesus loves me!”

Jesus loves me, and I know I love Him;
Love brought Him down my poor soul to redeem;
Yes, it was love made Him die on the tree;
Oh, I am certain that Jesus loves me!

If one should ask of me, how can I tell?
Glory to Jesus, I know very well!
God’s Holy Spirit with mine doth agree,
Constantly witnessing Jesus loves me.

In this assurance I find sweetest rest,
Trusting in Jesus, I know I am blest;
Satan, dismayed, from my soul now doth flee,
When I just tell him that Jesus loves me.
