EYES ON YOU! – Matthew 14:28-30 Devotional

EYES ON YOU!

Matthew 14:28-30 – Devotional

Eyes On You (inspired by Matthew 14:22-32) – download mp3

Matthew 14:28-30

“Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”

“Yes, come,” Jesus said.

So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.”

This Friday we have a special treat for you. Russ Hansen has combined AI and Scripture to produce an original song entitled, “Eyes On You” with words inspired from Matthew 14:22-32. Russ would appreciate your feedback at inspiration@thegoodbookcompany.com.

Eyes on You (inspired by Matthew 14:22-32)

[Verse 1]
The night was dark, the wind was wild
The waves were crashing all around
We strained against the oars in fear
When hope was nowhere to be found
Then through the storm a voice rang clear
Across the water, calm and true
“Take heart, it is I, don’t be afraid”
I fix my eyes on You

[Pre-Chorus]
If it’s really You, then call my name
Tell me where to place my feet

[Chorus]
I step out of the boat, onto the waves
I do the impossible when I walk by faith
As long as my eyes are fixed on You
But the moment I fear, I start to fall
Still You are there when I call
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You

[Verse 2]
The water holds me by Your word
Each step a miracle unseen
But the wind grows loud, doubt creeps in
I look away at what I see
The storm reminds me of my weakness
My courage slips, my faith feels thin
The waves rise higher than my trust
And I begin to sink

[Pre-Chorus]
With a desperate cry I lift my voice
“Save me, Lord!”

[Chorus]
I stepped out of the boat, onto the waves
I did the impossible when I walked by faith
But when my eyes drifted from You
Fear pulled me down, I started to fall
Still You were there when I called
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You

[Bridge]
Your hand reaches faster than my fall
Your mercy deeper than the sea
You lift me up, You pull me close
You never let go of me
Even when my faith is weak
Your faithfulness carries me

[Chorus – Final]
I’ll step out of the boat when You say “Come”
Trusting Your voice over every storm
Even if I falter, even if I fall
You are always there when I call
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You
Jesus, help me keep my eyes on You

[Outro]
The wind grows still, the waves obey
Truly, You are God
I’ll walk by faith and not by sight
With my eyes on You

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

FLASH BANG! Matthew 24:27 – Devotional

FLASH BANG!

Matthew 24:27 – Devotional

Matthew 24:27

“For as the lighting comes from the east and flashes to the west,
so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

During the night we had a brief atmospheric disturbance. That is a fancy way of saying that there was a small thunder and lightning storm. Actually it is more correct to say we had a lightning and thunder storm.

During my years serving in the United States Air Force I was posted to areas of the country that were prone to severe weather. As a family we decided that rather than being afraid of the storms, we would enjoy them!

When lightning flashed and thunder rolled, the popcorn would pop and we would huddle together on the living room sofa and cheer for the spectacular fireworks that were on display.

It was during these displays that it was evident that the flash of lighting meant that the roar of thunder would follow. In our sinful world we are observing the flash of sin and depravity, and we can be sure that God will soon roar with the rumble of His wrath against the ungodly. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

TAKE HEED! Mark 13:33 – Devotional

TAKE HEED!

Mark 13:33 – Devotional

Mark 13:33

“Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

Most true Bible scholars have concluded that there are no further prophecies that need to be fulfilled before the Lord appears to call His church to that wonderful home that has been prepared for us. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).

With the return of Christ so near at hand there is much work for us to do. We live in the midst of a lost and dying world. The word of hope and salvation that the lost need to hear should be on our tongue. As people see Jesus in us, we need to be ready to share the gospel message with them and have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Sadly, there are those who treat the prophecies of Christ’s return as only a joke, or they claim that we believers have been deceived. We have already observed enough fulfilled prophecies to know that Christ’s return is real and imminent. It is going to happen!

With such utter disregard of Scripture around us, we must be totally committed to share the only hope for those without eternal salvation. We may be ridiculed and mocked for our stand for Christ, but it may be the eternal lifeline for someone.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S PROFITABLE WORD! 2 Timothy 3:16 – Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

GOD’S PROFITABLE WORD!

2 Timothy 3:16 – Devotional

2 Timothy 3:16

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Buffet restaurants are popular places to eat because there are so many food choices available. The problem is that there are so many options that it is common to eat more than is appropriate. Digestive misery is the result!

In the case of God’s Word, too many people seem to feel that they are permitted to select only the portions that they find agreeable and reject the remainder. Today’s passage dispels that line of thought. We are told that ALL Scripture is the inspired (God breathed) Word of God.

If all Scripture is given by God, we need to refuse to listen to those who choose to present only the portions they like and reject the rest. Paul goes even further when instructing his son in the faith, Timothy, the purpose of Scripture: It is for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness.

Notice that it is only as these attributes are applied that the spiritually mature individual will be completely equipped for every good work. Are you faithful in applying God’s Word to your life? Remember His purpose for Scripture.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
