ONLY A HEARTBEAT AWAY! – 2 Corinthians 6:2 Devotional

ONLY A HEARTBEAT AWAY!

2 Corinthians 6:2 – Devotional

2 Corinthians 6:2b

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This Friday we have a special treat for you. Russ Hansen has combined AI and Scripture to produce an original song entitled, “Only a Heartbeat Away!” inspired by 2 Corinthians 6:2b, Luke 16:24, and Joshua 24:15. Russ would appreciate your feedback at inspiration@thegoodbookcompany.com.

Only a Heartbeat Away

Verse 1
This may be the most important song you’ll ever hear,
A whisper to your heart, a truth that’s crystal clear.
Jesus gave His life for you, He took your place in love,
He died upon a cross to bring you hope from up above.

Chorus
So open up your heart today, let mercy wash your sin away,
Call upon His name and say, “Jesus, I choose to believe.”
Don’t let this moment slip away —
You’re only a heartbeat away
From stepping into eternity.

Verse 2
He offers you forgiveness, a gift you cannot earn,
A promise of forever if you’ll only turn.
He calls you from the darkness to walk within His light,
He’s reaching out to save you — choose His love tonight.

Bridge
Every soul will live forever — one of two eternities,
Life with Christ in endless joy, or lost in misery.
If you choose to reject Him, you’ll face eternity in flames,
In anguish, far from mercy — but His love now calls your name.
His grace is reaching out tonight —
Just step into His light.

Chorus
So open up your heart today, let mercy wash your sin away,
Call upon His name and say, “Jesus, I choose to believe.”
Don’t let this moment slip away —
You’re only a heartbeat away
From stepping into eternity.

Today is the day of salvation.
Don’t put off your decision,
as you’re only a heartbeat away from eternity.
Now is the time.
Choose Jesus today and believe!

Chorus (reprise)
So open up your heart today, let mercy wash your sin away,
Call upon His name and say, “Jesus, I choose to believe.”
Don’t let this moment slip away —
You’re only a heartbeat away
From stepping into eternity.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SHARE THE JOY! – James 1:2-3 Devotional

SHARE THE JOY!

James 1:2-3 – Devotional

James 1:2-3

“My brothers and sisters, consider it pure joy when you experience different kinds of trials because you should know your faith grows through testing.”

Babies lack the strength of toddlers and toddlers lack the strength of youth. If we continue along this line of reasoning we come to those of us nearing our 90’s and realize we had better leave the heavy lifting to younger folks.

While we may have seen our better days physically, we should have become stronger in our knowledge of the Lord and the way He works in our life. In fact we should make sure that we share these precious experiences with those near us.

It is far too easy to become out rocks instead of coves of hope and safety from the storms of life. We do that by sharing the truth and joy of God’s Word with those around us.

Let the pure joy of resurrection life fill you so completely that it will seem to bubble up from within your very being. We can either allow the trials of our life to make us bitter or better. I for one choose to make my life better each day!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

WE WILL UNDERSTAND IT THEN! – 1 Corinthians 13:12 Devotional

WE WILL UNDERSTAND IT THEN!

1 Corinthians 13:12 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 13:12

“Now we only see in a mirror dimly, ultimately we will see face to face. For now we know only in part, but in that day we will know just as we are also known.”

As a pastor I have been called upon to officiate at hundreds of funerals. In most cases I was not acquainted with the deceased individual prior to their death. In order to make the service meaningful and personal, I always meet with their families before the service to “get acquainted” with the deceased through the family’s memories.

Interestingly, after the service people have asked me how long I had known the deceased person since it sounded like we were friends. They said they knew very little of the information I shared about the person.

At times I’ve read the obituary of someone I have known for years, but had no idea the things they had experienced. I have often wished I had known that information while they were alive so we could have discussed it.

Thinking about this makes me long for a time in heaven when we will be able to know every individual who has ever lived and rejoice about the steps that brought them to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. What a day that will be!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

GOD’S MOST DELICIOUS GIFT! – John 3:16 Devotional

GOD’S MOST DELICIOUS GIFT!

John 3:16 – Devotional

John 3:16

“God loved the world so much that He sacrificed His One and Only Son so that anyone who truly believes receives eternal life.

There are many sinner’s prayers that I have heard preachers and teachers offer for a person to receive Christ as their personal Savior. Being a simple-minded man I must confess that I find myself getting lost in all of the words.

As I read through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, I discover that Jesus spent the days of His ministry teaching people much like me. They were not the brilliant scholars of their day. Most of them were simple, hard working men and women who had faith to receive the bread of eternal life Jesus offered.

I recall being in a campground many years ago. In the parking area there were several wild deer who had become so used to tourists that they would boldly come up to the visitors and eat out of their hands. Signs were posted to try and prevent the practice, but many visitors did it anyway. People will be people!

God has offered to anyone and everyone who will sincerely open their heart and receive life that will last forever. We need to offer this most precious gift that could ever be given with as many people as the Lord leads across our path!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
