HOLY, HOLY, HOLY! – Psalm 29:2 Devotional

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!

Psalm 29:2 – Devotional

Psalm 29:2

“Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

There have been times in my life when I have worked in dirt and grime. By the time I had finished my work it seemed that I had been coated with the filth. I could hardly wait to take a shower and clean myself up. In this sin sick world we often need to come near God’s cleansing shower and experience His holiness.

Reginald Heber was born on April 21, 1783 in Cheshire, England, to a heritage of wealth and culture. By the age of five, he had read the Bible so thoroughly that he could give chapter and verse for many chance quotations.

He composed many hymns, but served his entire life without seeing them published. It was only after his death that as many as 57 of his hymns were recognized. It was to the Lord that he dedicated his works. Such is the case with this week’s hymn, Holy, Holy, Holy!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! tho’ the darkness hide Thee
Tho’ the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

BE BRAVE! – Isaiah 41:10 Devotional

BE BRAVE!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

In a world filled with crime, corruption, and pandemic, it is easy to become filled with fear and despair. That is because we tend to focus on the situation rather than on the Savior.

Let’s face it; we live in a fearful place. Unless the Lord comes to rapture us home to be with Him for all of eternity, we will face pain, suffering, and separation. If we focus our attention on the cause of distress we will become – – distressed!

I know you must be impressed by the brilliance of my conclusion, but I fear we are prone to react just as those who have not experienced a new birth – – those who are still spiritually dead!

Our courage does not come from our own strength or determination, but rather from placing our trust in the trustworthiness of our Savior. The next time you start to feel the pangs of fear, be brave and rest in the arms of the Lord!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

WE ARE NOT ALONE! – Isaiah 41:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

WE ARE NOT ALONE!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

For several years, Public Television has chronicled the story of Dick Proenneke, who lived alone in the wilderness for over thirty years. I have to confess that I have watched this program many times. I especially enjoy observing the creative manner in which he used the resources around him to survive.

In addition to being impressed by Dick’s resourcefulness, I also became aware of something else—he was not totally isolated. There was a bush pilot who made trips into Dick’s remote cabin to bring supplies and mail. I can only imagine the joy he must have felt in receiving mail from his family in California.

We do not have to be isolated in a wilderness like Dick Proenneke to feel alone. We can feel alone even when we are surrounded by a multitude of people. Just look at a picture of people walking down the street of a large city. One person in that huge crowd may feel more alone than actually being alone in the wilderness.

Regardless of where we might be or who might be around us, according to our Scripture for today, we are never alone. Not only is the Lord with us at all times, but He has promised to give us strength and to uphold us with His righteous right hand. Our part is to trust in Him with all our heart. Praise the Lord!

Blessings dear hearts! May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
