HE HIDETH MY SOUL!

Exodus 33:21-22 – Devotional

Exodus 33:21-22

“Behold, there is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while My glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with My hand while I pass by.”

Do you know this hymn? Fanny Crosby was blind from six weeks old because of a surgical mishap, her life was different from most, but it was not worse than most.

Fanny Crosby (1820-1915) supported herself as a teacher at a blind school, she had dear and close friends around the world, and she wrote and published thousands of beautiful hymns, many that are still sung today. Regarding her plight in life, she wrote the following words:

“It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank Him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me.”

Please enjoy today’s video devotional as well as the reading of the lyrics to today’s hymn below.

He Hideth My Soul – lyrics by Fanny Crosby

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers of pleasure I see.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
For such a Redeemer as mine!

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth my life with the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

TRUST IN THE LORD! – Psalm 84:12 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

TRUST IN THE LORD!

Psalm 84:12 – Devotional

Psalm 84:12

“O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in You!

When I was in high school I worked part-time delivering milk door to door. We had an established route and each driver had detailed instructions on what each customer was to receive. No customer ever came to the door to thank me for coming into their life to supply milk for them and their children.

Even if such an event had occurred I could not take the credit. Even though I had faithfully delivered the milk, who was ultimately responsible for the delivery? It may be safe to conclude it was the people who had hired me, trained me, and supplied me with the milk to deliver. There was really no place for pride—I just delivered the milk as ordered.

Christians should never take pride in being a witness for the Lord. We share the Gospel, offer a prayer of faith, and then leave the results up to God. Like delivering the milk, the Lord we serve deserves all of the credit—we just make the delivery.

In today’s Scripture we are reminded that we are blessed as we place our trust in the Lord and live our life for Him. Only God knows who is eagerly waiting for the “milk” of God’s Word? Are you committed to be used of God?

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

THE ONE WE CAN TRUST! – Psalm 84:12 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

THE ONE WE CAN TRUST!

Psalm 84:12 – Devotional

Psalm 84:12

“O Lord of hosts, blessed is the one who trusts in You!

In a day of great promises and equally broken ones, it is hard to know who or what to believe. It gives me great assurance to know that I can always go to the Word of God and discover the Way, the Truth and the Life! That One is Jesus!

It is easy to become hardened by the broken promises of political leaders. Even more are we saddened by the failure of spiritual leaders who fall into the lure of worldly pleasures instead of giving themselves to the Lord of All!

While we may be tempted to spend our time and energy being critical of those who have fallen, we need to renew our effort to serve the Lord of All who has never failed to keep His promises and He never will. He is the One we can trust!

As you go out into the world this day, take with you a new assurance that the Lord is with you and you can place complete trust that regardless of the circumstances of life, He is the One we can always trust!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

SINNERS MADE CLEAN! – Psalm 51:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

SINNERS MADE CLEAN!

Psalm 51:10 – Devotional

Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

If there is anyone who is without sin it is certainly not me. As a matter of fact, in Romans 3 we are told that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. If you try to convince yourself or others that you are without sin, you have just contradicted the Word of God.

The truth of the matter is that we live in a sinful and fallen world. Beginning with Adam and Eve, every single person has been imprinted with sin. It is part of our human DNA. The only remedy for this fatal condition was — Jesus!

There is no way that anyone can be good enough or do enough good deeds to deserve the salvation we all so desperately need. Isaiah 64:6 reminds us that all of our righteousness is as filthy rags. That is how God views our efforts to justify ourselves.

But, thank God, there is hope for us. It is not in what we do for ourselves, but what God has done for us by sending Jesus to redeem us from our sin. There is only one way to be cleansed from our sin, and that WAY is JESUS!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

CHOOSE JOY! – Isaiah 66:10 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

CHOOSE JOY!

Isaiah 66:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 66:10

“Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all you who love her. Rejoice for joy with her all you who mourn for her.

I would like to share an important secret with you: JOY IS A CHOICE! But some people seem to think that one is joyful by nature. In other words, we are born with either a ray of sunlight over our head or a thundercloud.

It is also thought that the circumstances of life determine joy or sorrow. As we read the words of today’s Scripture, we quickly notice that it is directed to those who grieve in Zion.

Think of that! For those who are experiencing grief, the Lord promises the oil of joy. Not only that, He provides a garment of praise in place of a spirit of despair. I think that James 1:2 expresses this thought: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.”

What are you experiencing in your life at this moment? It really does not matter what the circumstances are, but it does matter whether you are appropriating the joy of the Lord in order to display His splendor.

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
