REDEEMED!

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – Devotional

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit.”

In 1969 the U.S. Embassy in Iran was overpowered and the Americans inside were held hostage for 444 days. They lived in terror for over a year not knowing if they would live to see another day, be it prisoner or free. They were finally redeemed and allowed to go free, but what scars they carried with them into freedom!

Forgetting that particular incident and thinking of our redemption from sin, what is the worth of the human soul? The Lord Jesus paid the price for our redemption, and I am so grateful that we have been set free from the penalty of sin!

The writer of this hymn, Fanny Crosby, was eagerly looking forward to that day when her Redeemer would appear and her blinded eyes would be opened and she would behold the most beautiful sight she could ever imagine—Jesus!

Redeemed

(1) Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(2) Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence,
With me doth continually dwell.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(3) I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long:
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(4) I know I shall see in His beauty,
The King in whose law I delight;
Who lovingly guardeth my footsteps,
And giveth me songs in the night.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

(5) I know there’s a crown that is waiting,
In yonder bright mansion for me,
And soon, with the spirits made perfect,
At home with the Lord I shall be.

REFRAIN: Redeemed, redeemed,
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

LORD HEAL OUR LAND! – 2 Chronicles 7:14 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

LORD HEAL OUR LAND!

2 Chronicles 7:14 – Devotional

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’”

More and more frequently we are seeing the senseless slaughter of innocent lives while they are merely going about their own business. Even though it is possible that the reason for these rampages will never be known this side of eternity, there is one thing certain — sin has been allowed to rule our nation in just about every venue.

Decision makers have made the choice to shut God out of our schools and other public institutions. Somehow they have deluded themselves into thinking that this is an educated policy and that we should see the wisdom of their actions.

Sad to say, this dangerous action has laid the groundwork for more violence than we have ever experienced. The tragedy is that we will no doubt continue to see more and more of the same sort of violence. It is impossible to reject God’s authority without suffering many of these devastating consequences.

As believers we are charged to take action. The action is not to protest or rant and rave about those “rotten sinners.” According to the Scripture I have quoted above, we need to fall on our faces and deal with our own sin. As God revives us, we will be the catalysts to bring about a real revival in our land. Please join me to pray that we may repent and see a renewal in our lives.

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing!

PEACE IN THE STORM! – Luke 16:10 Devotional

PEACE IN THE STORM!

Luke 16:10 – Devotional

Luke 16:10

“Then said Jesus to them again, ‘Peace be unto you: as My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.’”

It seems as if we are always facing a storm of one kind or another as we pass through the days of our existence here on earth. Many of us can immediately recall storms that surrounded us and even threatened our life. When the storm passed we breathed a sigh of relief and went back to life as normal.

How very sad. We should use the storms of life to remind us that those who have never received Jesus as their Lord and Savior are facing a storm that will last eternally.

Jesus gave a vivid account in His parable of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man based his eternal security on his wealth and position. Lazarus lacked the wealth of this world, but he had received Jesus as his Savior and possessed eternal peace and contentment.

We are not saved by being poor nor are we damned by being rich. It is a matter of claiming the greatest gift available to us, the offer of eternity with the Lord because of His shed blood. Receive and share the fantastic news that there is peace in the storm. Jesus is our PEACE IN THE STORM!

Blessings dear hearts walk with God today and be a blessing!

YOUR GREATEST TREASURE! – Matthew 6:19 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

YOUR GREATEST TREASURE!

Matthew 6:19- Devotional

Matthew 6:19

“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.”

At times it seems the entire world is on the verge of financial collapse. Retirement accounts that once seemed to be adequate for the golden years melt like a snowman in 80 degree weather! Those of us who possess the least seem to be the least concerned. Why is that? According to today’s Scripture, it has to do with where our heart is.

Over the years I have heard excuses from people who fail to honor God with their giving. They say that they want to wait until … the house sells … they get a raise … they receive their inheritance … they receive their income tax refund … and on it goes. They claim that when their circumstances change they will have more to give to the work of the Lord.

Do you recall the incident when Jesus was in the temple courts? You can read about it in Luke 21:1-4. Jesus saw rich people putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a widow put in a very small amount. Jesus observed that the woman had put in more than all of the others. They gave out of their surplus, but she gave out of what little she had to live on.

It is a tragedy that many individuals (even some churches) place more confidence in the treasures of this world that will pass away than in heavenly treasures that will last forever and forever. What is your greatest treasure?

Blessings dear hearts! May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!

UNDERWEAR! – Mark 7:21-23 Devotional

Hear Pastor Cecil read today's Evotional

UNDERWEAR!

Mark 7:21-23 – Devotional

Mark 7:21-23

“For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”

This is a somewhat delicate subject, but I was recently thinking of some of the things my mother said to me. From what I hear, there are others of you who heard this same admonition from your own mother; “Be sure to wear clean underwear, you may end up in the hospital and what would they think!”

From my experience in the emergency wards they often just cut off all of the garments of a patient and have no time to inspect whether the underwear was clean or not. I think it is still a good idea to be prepared!

There is a spiritual parallel to being prepared with those things not obvious to the eyes of people around us. It is only as we peel off the façade of our outward appearance that the reality of who we are is revealed. Jesus reveals in this passage that all of the evil things imaginable are from within. It is these things which defile us in the sight of God.

We may walk and talk as holy men and women of God. The real question is what lies beneath? Do we have the clean underwear that can only come by a life lived in submission to the will of God and a readiness to confess our sins in order for Him to forgive us and cleanse us. Remember to PUT ON CLEAN UNDERWEAR!

May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
