MY STRENGTH AND SHIELD! – Psalm 28:7 Devotional

MY STRENGTH AND SHIELD!

Psalm 28:7 – Devotional

Psalm 28:7

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my songs I praise Him.”

When I think of examples of the seemingly weak overcoming the strong, I think of David’s battle with Goliath. A boy with nothing but a sling overcame a giant with a sword and shield.

The fact of the matter is that was not all that David possessed. David had spent time with the Lord in the fields with his flocks and had developed a close relationship with his Lord. It may have seemed that David faced his adversary with just a sling and a few stones, but the God of the universe was beside him!

As you go out into the world today and in all of your tomorrows, be sure you spend time in the presence of the Lord. I urge you to dedicate yourself to spend increasingly more time in prayer and Bible study. It will serve as your weapon against the enemy of our soul!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely only on your own understanding. In all your ways give Him the glory, and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6)..

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

JUST CONFESS! – 1 John 1:9 Devotional

JUST CONFESS!

1 John 1:9 – Devotional

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

I often recall my days working as a County Juvenile Probation Officer. One of the judges I worked for was a wise old veteran of the early frontier days in a gold mining town.

He taught me to listen carefully to what people were saying and never believe that they always would tell the truth. In fact people generally will tell a lie even when it would be easier on them to tell the truth. That is part of our fallen nature.

As believers we often are tempted to disguise our sinful actions as slips, accidents or errors in judgment. Regardless of what we call our deviation from God’s perfect standard – – it is sin and we must confess our sin to get the victory.

I can recall times in my life when I tried to color my sin as being something else. I was always miserable until I confessed to God and then to those I had wronged. It was then I felt God’s peace that passes understanding and come to understand that God knows my heart better than I do and my sin is evident regardless of my denial. He wants us to JUST CONFESS AND LET HIM CLEANSE US!

Blessings dear hearts! Walk with God today and be a blessing.

WE ARE NOT ALONE! – Isaiah 41:10 Devotional

WE ARE NOT ALONE!

Isaiah 41:10 – Devotional

Isaiah 41:10

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

For several years, Public Television has chronicled the story of Dick Proenneke, who lived alone in the wilderness for over thirty years. I have to confess that I have watched this program many times. I especially enjoy observing the creative manner in which he used the resources around him to survive.

In addition to being impressed by Dick’s resourcefulness, I also became aware of something else—he was not totally isolated. There was a bush pilot who made trips into Dick’s remote cabin to bring supplies and mail. I can only imagine the joy he must have felt in receiving mail from his family in California.

We do not have to be isolated in a wilderness like Dick Proenneke to feel alone. We can feel alone even when we are surrounded by a multitude of people. Just look at a picture of people walking down the street of a large city. One person in that huge crowd may feel more alone than actually being alone in the wilderness.

Regardless of where we might be or who might be around us, according to our Scripture for today, we are never alone. Not only is the Lord with us at all times, but He has promised to give us strength and to uphold us with His righteous right hand. Our part is to trust in Him with all our heart. Praise the Lord!

Blessings dear hearts! May God richly bless you as you bless others by your words and actions!
