{"id":7099,"date":"2019-09-02T06:00:26","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T13:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=7099"},"modified":"2019-09-02T21:23:48","modified_gmt":"2019-09-03T04:23:48","slug":"happy-labor-labour-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/happy-labor-labour-day\/","title":{"rendered":"HAPPY LABOR (LABOUR) DAY!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Matthew 11:28-30<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; padding-left: 40px;\"><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><strong><em>\u201c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Come to Me, all\u00a0you\u00a0who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today is celebrated as Labor Day here in the U.S. and\u00a0<em>Labour<\/em>\u00a0Day in Canada. (They hold fast to the British spelling by adding u\u2019s in the oddest places. When I am around my Canadian friends we like to tease each other &#8212; EH?)<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we plow through this life we often become weary and worn. This is just as true in spiritual labor as it is in secular work, if not more. We often find ourselves feeling like we are carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the midst of our weariness we turn to today\u2019s Scripture and at the outset we feel encouraged. Jesus tells us to come to Him and He will give us rest. Then we read the next verse and are told to take His yoke upon us &#8230; Wait! That sounds like more work!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reality is that when we\u00a0<em>willingly<\/em>\u00a0take His yoke upon us to learn from Him, we find that He becomes our burden bearer and our constant helper. It is when we refuse His yoke that we are left to bear our burden alone. That, dear friend, is LABOR!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blessings dear hearts.
