{"id":6734,"date":"2019-02-12T06:00:55","date_gmt":"2019-02-12T14:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6734"},"modified":"2019-02-12T11:25:58","modified_gmt":"2019-02-12T19:25:58","slug":"a-faithful-cook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/a-faithful-cook\/","title":{"rendered":"A FAITHFUL COOK!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Luke 16:10<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>He who\u00a0is\u00a0faithful in\u00a0what is\u00a0least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in\u00a0what is\u00a0least is unjust also in much.<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I enjoy cooking in cast iron utensils.\u00a0\u00a0Just about every time I use a skillet or Dutch oven, I think about the old chuck wagons that became the nerve center of every cattle drive that traveled across the plains states in the early days.<\/p>\n<p>The cook who operated the chuck wagon was not on the lowest rung of the ladder. Actually, he was the highest paid man on the cattle drives and had total authority over his domain. Before retiring each night, he would point the tongue of his wagon toward the North Star. This would give the drive master the direction he needed to keep on course.<\/p>\n<p>The cook would arise about 3:00 a.m. each morning to get his sourdough biscuits rising, the coffee brewing and bacon frying.\u00a0He operated on less sleep than the rest of the men, so his job was not an enviable position.
