{"id":6714,"date":"2019-01-31T06:00:27","date_gmt":"2019-01-31T14:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6714"},"modified":"2019-01-31T13:36:26","modified_gmt":"2019-01-31T21:36:26","slug":"we-are-the-unjust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/we-are-the-unjust\/","title":{"rendered":"WE ARE THE UNJUST!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>1 Peter 3:18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We typically like to think more highly of ourselves than we ought. We may not say we deserve to be forgiven of our sins and transgressions, but we frequently act as if that were the case. \u201cIf we are good enough, God will look with favor on us.\u201d Beep!<\/p>\n<p>That thought process is categorically contrary to God\u2019s Word. It is always by grace through faith as we read in Ephesians 2:8:\u00a0<span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><strong><em>\u201cFor by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;\u00a0it is\u00a0the gift of\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>God<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0\u00a0If we are saved by grace through faith, how are we kept? The same way! We no more deserve to remain saved by our works than we are saved by our good works. It is always by God\u2019s grace.<\/p>\n<p>Does that mean we are free to live as we please? God forbid! We are now free to serve as the redeemed of the Lord. That means we have been set free from the power of sin and death to serve the Lord in the power of His redeeming grace.<\/p>\n<p>Lift up your head, dear believer! We do not deserve the powerful and amazing grace of our Lord, but He showers it freely on us.
