{"id":6614,"date":"2018-12-12T06:00:55","date_gmt":"2018-12-12T13:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6614"},"modified":"2018-12-11T11:59:41","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T18:59:41","slug":"our-eternal-crown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/our-eternal-crown\/","title":{"rendered":"OUR ETERNAL CROWN!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Psalm 103:1<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Bless the\u00a0<\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em>, O my soul; and all that is within me,\u00a0bless\u00a0His holy name!\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When my wife Joyce and I were high school seniors, Joyce was crowned Homecoming Queen.\u00a0\u00a0I can still picture her sitting in the gymnasium on a makeshift throne along with her court.\u00a0\u00a0The crown on her head signified that she had been voted Queen of our student body.<\/p>\n<p>The position carried no monetary rewards and on the following Monday the other students did not bow to her.\u00a0She was just the same Joyce Harper as she had been before the coronation.<\/p>\n<p>Our present-day society suffers from a short supply of love and mercy (compassion).\u00a0\u00a0It seems more and more that we live in a dog-eat-dog world. Even Christians seem to be caught up in the struggle to get ahead regardless of the needs of others.<\/p>\n<p>My sweet \u201cHomecoming Queen\u201d might have surrendered her crown after that night so long ago, but she has received a far greater crown from the Lord.\u00a0\u00a0She had the qualities of love and mercy as a gift from God and went to be with Him almost four years ago. She now has a crown that will last for eternity!<\/p>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts!
