{"id":6533,"date":"2018-10-17T06:00:55","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T13:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6533"},"modified":"2018-10-16T15:56:08","modified_gmt":"2018-10-16T22:56:08","slug":"time-for-evaluation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/time-for-evaluation\/","title":{"rendered":"TIME FOR EVALUATION!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Proverbs 14:34<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Righteousness exalts a nation, but\u00a0sin\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0reproach\u00a0to\u00a0any\u00a0people.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is quite depressing to wake up each morning and be struck with the reality that we live in the midst of a sinful and unrighteous day and age. The writer of Proverbs states without equivocation that a nation is exalted when it is characterized by righteousness. That virtue is hardly to be found these days!<\/p>\n<p>The writer also states that sin is a reproach to any people. The word\u00a0<em>reproach<\/em>\u00a0as used in this verse in the Hebrew word\u00a0<em>chesed,<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>which in this context means a wicked thing. That is certainly an apt description of the effect sin has on our society.<\/p>\n<p>What should be our response to the sinful condition of our world? We find the answer in 2 Chronicles 7:14:\u00a0<strong>\u201c<em>I<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>f My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many revivals in the past have been started by a few believers who were willing to humble themselves and pray until they touched the hem of His garment.
