{"id":6501,"date":"2018-09-26T06:00:28","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T13:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6501"},"modified":"2018-09-26T10:52:08","modified_gmt":"2018-09-26T17:52:08","slug":"god-cleanses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/god-cleanses\/","title":{"rendered":"GOD CLEANSES!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Philippians\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_630772243\">3:13<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing\u00a0<\/em>I do,<em>\u00a0forgetting\u00a0those things which are\u00a0behind\u00a0I reach forward to those things which are ahead.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>How ironic that 40 years earlier, after being freed from the bondage of slavery, Moses sent out\u00a0<strong>twelve<\/strong>\u00a0spies. Only\u00a0<strong>two<\/strong>\u00a0returned with a positive report and urged them to go in immediately to possess the land God had given them.\u00a0 One of those two spies was Joshua, the other was Caleb. Upon Moses&#8217;s death Joshua assumes leadership and sends out only\u00a0<strong>two<\/strong>\u00a0spies to Jericho.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s consider a sinner that is introduced in the book of Joshua. If we were to use an investigative technique, here is what we would find:\u00a0<strong>Name:<\/strong><u>Rahab<\/u>.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Address:<\/strong>\u00a0<u>Jericho<\/u>.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Occupation:<\/strong>\u00a0<u>Prostitute<\/u>.<br \/>\nThat is basically all we know about this &#8220;woman of the night.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rahab and her family were spared when Israel defeated Jericho. She did not look back on her sordid past.\u00a0 She took a risk to save the Israelites and God blessed her for it. In Hebrews\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_630772244\">11:31<\/span>\u00a0she is mentioned along with the faithful of the ages. In James 2:25-26 she is considered righteous in the eyes of God.<\/p>\n<p>When God&#8217;s Word says our sins are forgiven, does that mean we are free or do we carry the terrible burden of sin with us?
