{"id":6216,"date":"2018-04-09T06:00:57","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T13:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6216"},"modified":"2018-04-08T16:38:26","modified_gmt":"2018-04-08T23:38:26","slug":"a-living-example","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/a-living-example\/","title":{"rendered":"A LIVING EXAMPLE!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>John\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_423072360\">15:10<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201cIf you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father\u2019s commandments and abide in His love.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One of my all time favorite teachers and speakers is Dr. Howard Hendricks who taught at Dallas Theological Seminary. I once heard him share that early in his life he spent much of his time and effort in trying to change his wife, his children, and his students.\u00a0 The harder he tried, the less change he saw. (Isn\u2019t that strange?!)<\/p>\n<p>It suddenly dawned on him that he was going about it all wrong.\u00a0 He came to realize that he needed to change his wife&#8217;s husband, his children&#8217;s father, and his student&#8217;s professor.\u00a0 It reminds me of that old song:\u00a0<em>\u201cIt\u2019s me, it\u2019s me, it\u2019s me, oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Howard began to pray for the Lord to make him a better husband, father, and teacher.\u00a0 Amazingly, his wife changed, his children changed, and his students changed!\u00a0 What had happened?\u00a0 He had\u00a0<strong>stopped preaching<\/strong>\u00a0at them and had\u00a0<strong>started living<\/strong>\u00a0his faith before them.<\/p>\n<p>It may be easy for us to intellectually agree with this concept, so why is it so hard to put it into practice?\u00a0 It is simply that we live by the flesh and not by the Spirit. We must live in constant relationship with the Lord and allow Him to show us\u00a0<strong><u>what<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0to do\u2014then\u00a0<strong><u>how<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><u>when<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0to do it.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts.
