{"id":6136,"date":"2018-02-20T06:00:53","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T14:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=6136"},"modified":"2018-02-19T12:19:01","modified_gmt":"2018-02-19T20:19:01","slug":"think-about-it-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/think-about-it-3\/","title":{"rendered":"THINK ABOUT IT!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Philippians 4:8<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\">\u00a0\u201c<em>Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things\u00a0are\u00a0noble, whatever things\u00a0are\u00a0just, whatever things\u00a0are\u00a0pure, whatever thingsare\u00a0lovely, whatever things\u00a0are\u00a0of good report, if\u00a0there is\u00a0any virtue and if\u00a0there is\u00a0anything praiseworthy\u2014meditate on these things.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems that all too often we have replaced\u00a0<em>excellence<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0<em>convenience<\/em>.\u00a0 We tend to get by with the least amount of effort, time, or cost.\u00a0 As a result we fail to encounter excellence.\u00a0 We surely can think of examples in the human family, but why spend the time trying to think of illustrations from mankind when we can use the life of Jesus Christ as the epitome of excellence and also One who is praiseworthy.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to cut directly to the bottom line in this passage and see where Paul is pointing his attention.\u00a0 It is in the section set off by the hyphens.\u00a0 Two words stand out here that should grab our attention:\u00a0<strong>VIRTUOUS<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>PRAISEWORTHY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We need to see in Jesus the living example of One who was always worthy of a good report.\u00a0 He stood head and shoulders above everyone who has ever lived.\u00a0 He demonstrated virtue wherever He went. Everything He did was praiseworthy &#8212; His parables as well as His actions.\u00a0 He will always be worthy of our thought life as we meditate upon Him and the life He lived. What are you\u00a0<em>thinking<\/em>?!<\/p>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts.
