{"id":5892,"date":"2017-09-26T06:00:08","date_gmt":"2017-09-26T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=5892"},"modified":"2017-09-25T12:01:22","modified_gmt":"2017-09-25T19:01:22","slug":"a-matter-of-faith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/a-matter-of-faith\/","title":{"rendered":"A MATTER OF FAITH!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hebrews 11:1<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems I have always been intensely interested in the field of criminal justice. A review of my resume\u2019 says I have been employed as a city police officer, a dispatcher, a juvenile probation officer, a criminal justice planner, and a college professor of criminal justice classes.<\/p>\n<p>One of the things I have learned well through this extensive involvement is that <u>evidence<\/u> is something that is tangible and able to be presented in court as proof. Without it, the case rests only on circumstantial (or inferred) evidence.<\/p>\n<p>So here is the paradox in Hebrews 11:1&#8211; substances have solid qualities, but faith is ethereal. Evidence is something touchable that is marked for exhibit and a number is placed on it for identification, and yet here in Hebrews it is described as being <u>not seen<\/u>.<\/p>\n<p>What this verse reveals to me is that we are to have faith that is <strong>solid<\/strong>. It is not the namby-pamby type of stuff that cowers in the corner and hopes for the best. It is the <strong>bold and positive assurance<\/strong> that God\u2019s Word is true and worthy of our trust.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts.
