{"id":5163,"date":"2016-07-27T06:00:44","date_gmt":"2016-07-27T13:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/daily-e-votional\/?p=5163"},"modified":"2016-08-01T08:31:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-01T15:31:16","slug":"look-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/look-up\/","title":{"rendered":"LOOK UP!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Luke 21:28<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.<\/em><em>\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems that every day we hear of tragedies of every kind. There are natural disasters, but also there are violent attacks that leave scores dead and badly injured. Just when it seems that things could not get worse, they seem to do just that.<\/p>\n<p>What should be our reaction to the violence and chaos around us? I think we have at least two choices: We can <em>look around<\/em> us and become increasingly depressed, or we can<em> look up<\/em> and see that God is the Blessed Controller of all things.<\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s Scripture, Jesus is listing the things that will precede His return and the end of the age. He does not want us to be burdened with the evil that He foretells, but to see the glory that waits for the redeemed of the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, Jesus is instructing us to focus our attention on what is waiting for us. That means we are to LOOK UP! I frequently have to remind myself to focus my attention in the right direction. I do what I can to fulfill the command of the Lord, and then I LOOK UP and worship the One whom I serve.
