Isaiah 55:6-7<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSeek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Charles Thomas \u201cC.T.\u201d Studd, was a missionary ministering in China, India, and Africa in the late 1800\u2019s and early 1900\u2019s. His devotion to serve God in the far flung areas of the world can be summed up by one of his quotes: \u201c<\/strong>Forward ever, Backward never! Some wish to live within the sound of Church or Chapel bell; I want to run a Rescue Shop within a yard of hell.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of his quotes has frequently been mistaken from scripture. It actually is from one of his poems.<\/p>\n

Only One Life \u2018Twill Soon Be Past<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Two little lines I heard one day, Traveling along life\u2019s busy way;
\nBringing conviction to my heart, And from my mind would not depart;
\n<\/span>Only one life, \u2019twill soon be past,<\/strong> Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Only one life, yes only one, Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
\nThen, in \u2018that day\u2019 my Lord to meet, And stand before His Judgment seat;
\nOnly one life, \u2019twill soon be past, Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Only one life, the still small voice, Gently pleads for a better choice
\nBidding me selfish aims to leave, And to God\u2019s holy will to cleave;
\nOnly one life, \u2019twill soon be past, Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Only one life, a few brief years, Each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
\nEach with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will;
\nOnly one life, \u2019twill soon be past,<\/strong> Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When this bright world would tempt me sore, When Satan would a victory score;
\nWhen self would seek to have its way, Then help me Lord with joy to say;
\nOnly one life, \u2019twill soon be past,<\/strong> Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Give me Father, a purpose deep, In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
\nFaithful and true what e\u2019er the strife, Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
\nOnly one life, \u2019twill soon be past,<\/strong> Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
\nLiving for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
\nOnly one life, \u201ctwill soon be past, Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Only one life, yes only one, Now let me say, \u201dThy will be done\u201d;
\nAnd when at last I\u2019ll hear the call, I know I\u2019ll say \u201ctwas worth it all\u201d;
\nOnly one life, \u2019twill soon be past, Only what\u2019s done for Christ will last.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have a new year stretching out before us. My prayer is that this year I may make this phrase a reality in my life. Have a blessed 2015!<\/p>\n
