For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For several months our congregation has been studying First and Second Peter. I have prepared the following as a teaching tool for Second Peter 1:1-7. I have decided to send it out for your personal study.<\/p>\n

PETER\u2019S STEPS TO SPIRITAL GROWTH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

FAITH THAT SEES BEYOND THE PRESENT
\n<\/strong>(THIS IS THE BASIS FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH<\/em>)<\/strong><\/p>\n

ADD THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0GOODNESS
\n<\/strong>(<\/strong>A virtuous course of thought, feeling and action)
\n<\/strong>plus<\/p>\n

KNOWLEDGE
\n<\/strong>(<\/strong>Moral wisdom, such as is seen in right living)
\n<\/strong>plus<\/p>\n

SELF-CONTROL
\n<\/strong>(<\/strong>The virtue of one who masters his desires and passions, esp. his sensual appetites)
\n<\/strong>plus<\/p>\n

PERSEVERANCE
\n<\/strong>(<\/strong>Steadfastness, constancy, endurance)
\n<\/strong>plus<\/p>\n

GODLINESS
\n<\/strong>(Reverence, respect towards God)
\nplus<\/p>\n

MUTUAL AFFECTION
\n<\/strong>(The love which Christians cherish for each other)
\nplus<\/p>\n

LOVE
\n<\/strong>(<\/strong>The nature of God is summed up in love)<\/strong><\/p>\n
