{"id":342,"date":"2008-10-31T05:12:18","date_gmt":"2008-10-31T12:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/dailyevotional\/archives\/342"},"modified":"2008-10-31T05:18:30","modified_gmt":"2008-10-31T12:18:30","slug":"%e2%80%9cforgive%e2%80%9d","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/%e2%80%9cforgive%e2%80%9d\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cFORGIVE!\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Matthew 18:21-22<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><font color=\"#c40000\"> \u201cThen Peter came to Jesus and asked, \u2018Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?\u2019 Jesus answered, \u2018I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven.\u2019 \u201d<\/font><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One time Joyce and I were returning home and saw our next door neighbor pulling up grass in her front yard.\u00a0 I stopped and made some remark about how hard she was working.\u00a0 She snarled back, \u201cWell it\u2019s all thanks to you!\u00a0 Why didn\u2019t you talk to me instead of complaining to the manager?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I had not mentioned anything to anyone about her yard and was dumbfounded by her accusation.\u00a0 Try as I might, I was never able to convince that woman that we were not the ones who had complained.<\/p>\n<p>We remained neighbors for a year or so following that episode.\u00a0 It made no difference what we did, we remained her enemies.\u00a0 It became evident that we were not the only ones who were the objects of her bitterness.\u00a0 The result was that she never was happy and made those around her unhappy as well.<\/p>\n<p>Job was also faced with false accusations from his so-called friends.\u00a0 It became one of his many trials and ordeals.\u00a0 But there is an interesting element in the entire incident.\u00a0 After God had appeared and Job had confessed his questioning of God, the Lord dealt with his accusers.<\/p>\n<p>In Job 42, we read that God required his accusers to make sacrifices before the Lord and then go to Job and he would pray for them.\u00a0 In verse 8 we read these words; <font color=\"#c40000\"> \u201cMy servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly.\u201d<\/font> Let\u2019s be that type of forgiving person.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts.
