1 Thessalonians 5:16-18<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Rejoice always,\u00a0<\/sup>pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God\u2019s will for you in Christ Jesus.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As a young boy in church, I recall some members that always looked like they were baptized in vinegar. Their words were words of joy, but to look at them you would think the sky had just fallen on their head.<\/p>\n

I am sure that most of us have heard the humorous exchange when someone asks: \u201cHow are you doing?\u201d The reply: \u201cPretty well, under the circumstances.\u201d The one who asked the question replies: \u201cWell, what are you doing under there?\u201d<\/p>\n

So I ask you: How are you doing? I hope you are living and serving the Lord above the circumstances of life. Our outlook and attitude have a profound bearing on how we view others, but also on how they view us.<\/p>\n

As I read today\u2019s Scripture, I am struck by what we are told to do. It is not easy, but it is God\u2019s mandate for us. We are to rejoice always<\/em><\/strong><\/span>. That means for everything\u2014whether good, bad or indifferent! I think the way we are able to do that is through the second command: we are to pray continually<\/strong><\/em><\/span>. And that leads to the final step: give thanks in all circumstances<\/strong><\/em><\/span>. It is only by God\u2019s amazing grace that we will be able to accomplish this in our daily walk. Let\u2019s believe God and His Word and obey!<\/p>\n
