{"id":2860,"date":"2012-11-22T06:00:26","date_gmt":"2012-11-22T13:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devonline.us\/dailyevotional\/?p=2860"},"modified":"2012-11-21T13:35:56","modified_gmt":"2012-11-21T20:35:56","slug":"thank-you-lord-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dailyevotional.com\/prior2020\/thank-you-lord-2\/","title":{"rendered":"THANK YOU LORD!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><strong>1 Thessalonians 5:16-18<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><span style=\"color: #c40000;\"><em>Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thinks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Today is November 22<sup>nd\u00a0<\/sup>&#8212; the date that we officially celebrate Thanksgiving Day here in the United States this year. Canada celebrated its Thanksgiving Day on October 8<sup>th<\/sup>. Many other nations also have designated days to give thanks.<\/p>\n<p>It is easy to fall into the trap of being thankful\u00a0only\u00a0for the material things of life . . . food, clothing, house, job, bank account . . . you get the picture. We certainly should be thankful for these things, but there are other reasons to be eternally thankful. Being thankful is not, or at least it should not be, a once-a-year thing. As members of God\u2019s family we are to be thankful at\u00a0all\u00a0times. It is not our prerogative to choose when we will be thankful and what we will be thankful for.<\/p>\n<div align=\"justify\">In today\u2019s Scripture Paul admonishes the church at Thessalonica (as well as all of us) that we are to:\u00a0Be joyful always.\u00a0Do you frequently look as though you have been baptized in vinegar? That, my dear friend, is not being continually joyful.<\/p>\n<p>Paul\u2019s second admonition is that we are to:\u00a0Pray continually. Here is another embarrassing question: How is your prayer life? Are you continually speaking to the Lord in prayer? It is a discipline that we need to pursue.<\/p>\n<p>The last admonition is in line with today\u2019s topic. Here is what the Lord expects of us:\u00a0Give thanks in all circumstances.\u00a0Chew on that while you are munching on your sumptuous dinner. What if you had little or nothing to eat? Would you still give thanks? That is exactly the Lord\u2019s will in any and every circumstance. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Blessings dear hearts.
